Hey guys ... never posted any questions before. However, i'm facing a head-ache problem with my R1 '05. My radiator's been leaking ( high possibility of a leakage somwhere on it ). Did a DIY flushing, refill the coolant and checked the cap and still .. a leak. DO anyone know how much it would cost to just weld the rad and cost of a brand new one?

 

Putting that as a secondary prob, my engine has been purring like a sick tiger. It has this inconsistent idling and it almost sounds like it would stall during low gear half clutch crawl. I checked the freeplay of the clutch - no problem there. I've searched high and lows for an answer or the cause but to no vail. Has anyone encounter this problem? Am I going to face a financial crash with this problem? Need help ~!!

Flushing does not solve radiator leak... It makes it worse.

 

How long has the radiator been leaking? a leaking radiator will affect cooling efficiency and cause overheating of the engine internals. better get the bike to a qualified mech to fix the leakage before more damage is done.

ive noticed the leak after I came back from a trip in Malaysia. which is yesterday morning. i have not ride it ever since after noticing that the coolant kept on dripping .. a drop per min. a leak in radiator isnt much to think about ... im very much concerned with the idling/engine sound. it disturbs me so much. can't even sleep thinking bout it.

Probably hit by road debris. Any leak in radiator will cause water pressure to drop and your engine will get over heated easily.

 

Don't lose sleep over it. Bring it to the mech and evaluate the damage.

how much for a second hand rad? could last a few months rite? should be ok till i collect enuff to buy a new one. however.... still pondering about the engine sound ~ !!

Nope. Unless you willing to spent money to make use of custom bracket to fix it on your bike. 600 and 750 share the same fairing but not 1000.
