There are two shops at Geylang that does electroplating. Yes, only two shops and they are next to each other.

I sent many parts from my Phantom there for chroming at a price of $400, this includes both front forks, triple clamp, risers, front console, rear footrest mounts, both halves of the engine crankcase aluminum covers.

I was waiting for my scrapyard thai chopper to be rebuilt anyway, so it was money well spent :D

PM and I'll find the contacts for you. You can also visit one of my trusted mechanic's shop to act as an agent for sending and receiving parts (shop will get a quotation for you) but bear in mind it takes some amount of time (1-2 weeks) for the process to be finished as there is quite a bit of preparation. You will also not get Harley-style architectural-standard double/triple chrome (which is fantastic to touch and ultra-durable) as we don't have the technology for that locally.

But chrome is so much better than unpolished rice cooker aluminum :D

I forget wats the exact location.. U can ask bike shop cuz mostly they send thre for chroming..

Do take note, if u guys intend to chrome ur part, better to send it in bundle cuz they can give u discount. Else, if jz 1 part at a time, it costly !

Example; $150 for only exhaust stomach & $30 for 1 caliper bt if u send bundle, more discount bt must wait atleast 2weeks :)

Like pandora said there is no shop locally that can do those harley type of decorative/show chrome. The geylang shops can only do the hard chrome which is mainly for industrial/marine stuff. Hardness is the priority for industrial hard chroming and this type of chroming process will have a thick layer of chrome to achieve this. The mirror like smoothness of decorative chroming cannot be achieved by too thick a layer of chrome. The decorative chrome sometimes referred to as triple chrome involves 2 other stages of nickel and copper electroplating before the final and thinner (compared to hard chroming) layer of chrome and alot of emphasis is placed on polishing and smoothening the pieces before starting the electroplating process in order to achieve the mirror like finish. So if we sent our pieces to be chromed locally, we cannot expect that they will give you the harley type chrome results but they will be much better than those cheap chromed chiong parts that will rust easily.

It's good to know that they chrome aluminium too. I have 2 pcs aluminium crackcase covers and hesitating to go to them coz I thought they may not want to do since aluminium need to be treated first for the chrome to stick. Actually polished aluminium can look very good also but the initial polishing is very tedious and afterwards, maintaining the shine is hard work.

Ya, chroming aluminium pieces will cost alot more, as I found out lately. I was quoted $190 for 2 pieces of crackcase covers.

where is the place

Geylang Bahru. (many thanks to Pandora for the info). 2 shops side by side. It seems to me that 1 is cheaper. I sent 8 pieces recently : main stand, brake pedal lever and some other small parts, all non-aluminium. 1st shop quoted me $200. As I was talking to the guy, I noticed a couple of bikers going into the next shop so I went to check it out. I ended up paying only $100 to this 2nd shop (have to wait 1 week to collect). I am very satisfied with the results. (check your pm).

does this chrome rust?cos i see some chrome can peel of easily

as with any protection coating be it chrome, paint or even wraps and stickers

it all depends on your surface preparation

if it's not clean (enough), it may look good initially but eventually peel, rust through etc.

Grounded... :/

Both shops are at Blk 81 geylang bahru terrace. I used Sam Kong because the price quoted to me was much lower from them. I sent 1 brake pedal , 1 kick start pedal, 1 main stand, 1 brake rod, 1 exhaust bracket, 2 springs and 1 small bracket, all from my honda c70 and paid only $100. That was quite a few months ago, so I don't know if the price has changed. To date, all these pieces chromed by them are as shiny as the first day and still rust free. In comparison, the cheap chromed side stand, chromed step bar and chromed chain case cover that I bought from JB later on are not as smooth and good looking as the one chromed here. Sorry, I tried to take some pics for comparison but it is difficult to show the difference of the chrome quality through pics and my hp pics can't do justice for the chromed in singapore pieces. In anycase, the side stand and the chain case bought from Jb has already started to show signs of rust in some areas.

For my main stand, they even drilled a small hole at the base so that the chrome can get into the hollow part inside. But for my exhaust bracket, I don't know why they only chrome the front and left the back untouched. Overall, I am happy with the price and the quality. Not trying to promote any chrome shops but just sharing my limited experience using one of them....:)
