A 2nd hand mito costs anywhere from $3.5K all the way up to $7K depending on the year and model. If you can, get a Mito Evolution 1 as it has 7 gears. Higher top speed and lower fuel consumption at say 100KMPH. The SP525 model produces more power than previous models and is extremely rare. It would be a good buy if you could get one of those.

You can squeeze out close to 30KM/L by riding slowly and carefully. Average riding will return from 21 to 26KM/L. Riding as if your pants are on fire will probably give you 16 to 19KM/L. A litre of 2T will last you around 450 to 500KM, give or take a little.

Don't bother too much about your fuel consumption. It's the condition of the bike that matters. If you get one that isn't in reasonably good condition your expenses will run sky high on replacing the bad parts with new ones.

The piston alone can cost $200 to $350 depending on what piston you get and a full top end overhaul can easily hit $1K. On the other hand, the SP costs $300 to $400 for a full top end overhaul. Not trying to put you off on the Mito, it's a great bike I assure you. Just letting you be aware of what it costs if anything happens to go wrong.

Woowww! I thought that SP top end overhaul is around $1k! Yepp I'm looking for SP525. :) If its so hard to find then I've to give it up... But Mito look extremely sexxy! If no more Mito, I guess my choices are left on SP and R15. SP for looks and size and R15 for long term riding/fuel saving. R15 is so skinny, wonder if i can do anything to mod the tires to look thicker and the bike to look sexier!

R15 = 26km more per L as mentioned by kiji.

Really hard choice deciding!

There's a maximum size tyre you can fit onto the R15. Don't know what it is but it doesn't look like you can fit the same size tyres that the Mito uses. The R15's tyre sizes are Front 80/90 and Rear 100/80. About 2/3rds the size of the ones on the Mito. The larger tyres will reduce performance and increase fuel consumption too.

Another bike you could look at is the RS125. Pretty much the same specs as the Mito but with slightly softer suspension and a little more upright riding posture.

A few things you can do to reduce fuel consumption at the cost of reduced performance and a more frequent engine rebuild is to down jet. Reduce the main jet to say 108 or 118, assuming the bike is stock. If it's too lean you'll end up with a seized engine though.

Another alternative, buy the RS4 125 or wait for the new 4 stroke Mito. 4 stroke bike with superbike looks and handling. Best of both worlds for you, except that you lose the adrenaline rush you get once you enter the powerband and have double the horsepower :)

Ahh i see, so i think reading from all the post i'd most probably still go for SP.. But i have one more option in mind which is the Mito. It is also a 2 stroke and its 125cc, so does that means the fuel consumption is lower and the maintenance is cheaper than the SP etc? Please advise. :)

So now its Mito against SP. Any opinions?

I'm not planning to upgrade to class 2A or 2 because I have a class 3 license already. I just want to use the bike for long term and for transport and I want a superbike because I love its looks and the size. Thats just my preference though. :)

Thanks alot guys ! Really helpful :)

fuel consumption can be "controlled" in the sense controlling your throttling and don't use oversize carb jet settings.

Now the new Mito is 525, but its still a 125cc... I prefer the old Mito design very stylo and 7-speed transmission as well. Yes, its a 2B bike yet its big in size but not sure of the machine/parts integrity.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Alright guys! Think i've decided. I guess what's best is just to go down personally to bike shops to look at those various models myself. Enquire more, then make a decision. And once I'd get one, I need advice from you guys as in what down jet or what which I don't really understand. xD Thanks so much guys!

......

What I'm looking for in a bike is sportsbike, which is BIG, and looks sporty and nice. I don't mind about speed because I just use it for transport.

.....

take a look at daelim roadwinR 125....it's big, it's a sportbike n it's good for transport, if u dont mind made-in-korea.

most small jap bikes r made-in-thai,india,br,malayais,etc....cant be better quality than made-in-korea.

nowadays korean products like samsung n hyundai r equal or better than made-in jap.

if u compare the built qualities of yam r15,r125 to roadwinR 125, there r vast differences btwn all threes.

visit cka ( http://www.cka.com.sg ) daelim agent or sportbikes section, find out more from rwR owners in roadwinR thread.

Man, your daelim roadwin 125cc suggestion is really good! Good FC, better than SP, very big body! Not bad overall looks. Althought the speed is slow, but I'm using mainly for travel to and fro work and for relaxing rides. So i guess its good enough! Thanks!

It might have a small engine and a big body but it's a 4 valve DOHC and performs quite well at high revs. The downside is of course the higher consumption (by 4 stroke standards) but it's still better than most 2 strokes not running extreme carb settings (RS125 & Y125Z at 40km/l anyone? :D)

The Daelim should give you 33km/l but you have a 15 litre fuel tank. It is reliable enough to go up to Cameron Highlands with no issues. If you want a riders' perspective on the Daelim I know @DivineCreations who rides one. See if you can send him a pm :D

Looks wise the RoadwinR does command a certain presence due to its aggresive styling and large size. People at Changi beach never knew it was a Daelim until they saw the crankcase...

rs125, r u referring to aprillia rs125??

this baby cant be doing 40km/l......fastest two stroke 125.....fc is the worst among all 125.

Eh thats not the point lah -_-; I was making a comparison between cl2 bikes and 2b bike lah, wah liao..

Seeing u only wanna ride 2b bike, den might as well ride whatever u like.

Thats a very powerful engineer at work! Potential tony stark! Haha!

LOL. I wonder how long he has between rebuilds. Unless he runs premix + use the 2T in the tank I think he'd end up with a seizure pretty quick.
