To : PINGLONG, saw ur photo, really envy u, landed property, wow. if i hv tt kind of space, think i wl dismantle e whole bike to clean or repair it & use e small bike 1st till bike is done up. Is it expensive to rent a place there?

Whoa...u mean all postings are monitored? interesting.... who would have that amount of time to go thru all postings and act on them accordingly? Isn't it better to use those time to tinker with their own bikes? hahahahahaha

Eh, that is in JB lah. My parents' place. In JB, price of landed property is cheaper than some of your 3-rm flat here. So, no need to envy: 1st of all, not mine. 2nd-ly, it's common in MY. Plan your retirement there lah. hahaha

Think you can rent a single-storey terrace house for abt RM700 per month. Choose somewhere outskirt, cheaper. My parents's place is abt 15km away from JB town.

Hey RT, you still looking for the R1100S?

Saw one thats being put up for sale at PML when I collected me bike this morning. Lets see, Silver base with yellow stripes, Schnitzer (gasak spelling) Rims, Laser pipes, reg in Nov 2002, 19k on the clock, 1st owner, touring pannier, excellent condition. Asking for 21K negotiable. The pipes with the baffles removed sounded rich and thumpy, not too far from Ducks on Termis'.......make me wanna change me pipes straight away........ :thumb:

Was told that those rims itself cost around 7K.......yikes :giddy: Guys, go take a look...

thanks Cyclop for your info, saw that bike there for quite some time liao but the model I mentioned is R 1100RS, not R 1100S.

Hi, it's me again, SDR, hmm, seriously, I am thinking and planning to settle at Msia or Thailand. Now working already buay tahan, don't talk about after 62 and jobless. Quite scary to think about old age in Spore. SAD.

Guess majority of the Sporean are cash poor, paying highest price for car and house, but consolidation is that we may be better off than the Japanese, Hong Konger and the British. My MD takes train to work in Japan, his house is smaller than a 3 room flat and think he can't afford to play golf there, my ex-MD last vacation in Spore, played golf for 12days in JB, LOL. over here, they stay at Orchard and drive brand new Camry. Remember one economist from Sweden ever mentioned, a person wealth can only be consider as healthy when his expenditure should be 10% on transportation, 10% for accommondation, 20% saving, 20% for own leisure or hobby, 40% for household expenditure including children, TT'S FOR ONE. But most people in Spore spent 50% on transportation (car), 20%+20% on housing (husband and wife CPF, full contribution), 50% on saving (IF ANY) + household expenditure + leisure. Guess we are not very healthy, tt's why many suffers from depression and I am one of them, when my bike sent in for repair.

Took my SDR 2day, as they are not able to get the original manifold, bike performance not up to expectation but very happy with overall service, changed a pair of fork tubes, changed carb (provided by me), respray tail section and etc... should say job well done, tested the bike in JB, ask a mech there to help me with air filter, quite creative guy, mod an air filter and fixed it, not super satisfy but glad that the bike is running smoothly, visited Mystics this afternoon, Lim told me bike should be out by Fri, spring custom made and bearing need to replace.

Meet @ GP Esso and dinner @ Senai, pls lead the way, but you guys need to wait for me, may be taking SDR there, 2 strokes can't stress too much and just change my pistion and carb, still running in. OK?

I still prefer the design for the latest R1150RT. Think it has more 'character'.

The new R1200RT & ST looks like some pieces of lego put together. Maybe they design each parts or section individually, and then try to piece, mix and match them together, and name it with some new model name.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a140/pinglong/R1200RT_R1200GSA_top_back_on_back.jpg
Posted

To : Cyclop, thanks for posting the new RT & ST pictures here, I have been looking at the new bikes pictures over and over again and I have come to a conclusion that I think we hv wrongfully accused the designer.

Actually, it's the STX tt looks like the K1200LT and the new RT just looks very similar to the LT. Aerodynamic front and the panniers are bigger and the shape is the same as LT. Further, I remembered seeing a prototype of LT many years ago, more sporty look than the manufactured, the R1200RT looks very similar to the K1200LT prototype. Same as LEICA? Design being copied. This is the reason I never like Honda, not creative, I don't remember they ever come up with any original and authentic design before. Yamaha is usually the pioneer to introduce new design and concept but sadly their designs were being robbed. Just like Steve Job and Bill Gates, 1 create and the other steal and eventually, the pirate (BG) won.

As for the new ST, it's a very interesting design, never believe that such design can be from a German company, usually only Italian has such a brilliant design, they have not miss every single detail on the bike, (PINGLONG, you are very right, they design every single part and put them together, but I think they design the whole bike 1st, dismentle every single parts, distribute it to different designers and make sure that the designers are able to put them back again) but I think all these designs are not only beautiful but useful as well, look at the ST's windshield, it's not just a normal windshield and believe you don't need to buy after market w/s, they have carefully design it in a way that the wind will be redirected and not blowing against the rider at highspeed, i don't really know, but think the centre opening of the shield must have some effect of stabilising the bike when at high speed, and the lower opening (found on present, STX and FJR) should act as a spoiler to push the bike front down inorder to obtain a better road holding, just like those found on F1 car. Now, look at the tail section, the design is so well blended into the bike, it takes the w/s design and design the passenger's grip, with a V shape opening in the centre is specially for the BMW logo and V is victory and the headlight and the ...., too many.

Infact, look the R1200GS, the design is as brilliant too. It's very special, a little playful (fun) and hard (tough). The design will bring up the hidden desire of viewers and bought it without much hesitation (just like our friend here, LOL).

Look at these 3 bikes (including the new GS) carefully, closely and then from away. don't look at them for a week, do you remember how they look like, if you can remeber, they are successful, cos you will be thinking of them day and night and go to PML to put d/p.

Look at them as a whole, don't concentrate on individual parts, like headlight or whatsoever, they will all blend in.

Leonardo Da Vinci painted the "The Last Supper" many times as he failed to blend everythings into 1.

Looking at the recent BMW vehicles designs. I think we should salute to the Art director. Well Done.

Further, look @ them from front (for car and motorcycle), you will notice tt nostril (air intake) is a very authentic BMW design, a very well preserved BMW logo (just like RR, Benz, Volvo and etc... (but not on Japanese cars).

Initially, the log was found on the K series, especially the K75, K100 (TP bikes), LT and RS (the coolant cover is the BMW logo) - 1000cc series, but it was lost after introducing the new R1100 and K1200 series, they tried to put it on RS and RT, but i think it is quite a failure, it is not obvious and it doesn't resemble BMW at all, therefore, i think among the 1100 range, only the S preserve logo well, the nostil is the same design they use it on the car.

I know that BMWs design are often unique and erm, daring. But the old RT IMO certainly looks much better compared to the edgy lines of the new RT...

Gentlemen, I quote from the March 2005 edition of TWO magazine (pg7):

"NEW YEAR, NEW BMWs

According to sources at the BMW factory, two new versions of the R1200GS are being planned. The first is the rather obvious Adventure version. Yadah yadah yadah..... Expect it at the end of 2005.

The second R1200GS planned is far more interesting. The bike pictured (yes indeed ladies and germs, there is a picture of it with 2 guys working on it), labelled R1200GS HP (high performance) is believed to have a frame based around the old BMW 900RR Dakar bike (at this time, SDR's eyes should be BIG BIG), giving it serious off-road potential. More yadah yadah yadah......Sounds fun and should be here around mid-summer"

Unquote.

I don't know about you folks out there, I'm goin back to bread and water again....Hek Hek Hek Hek  :giddy:  :giddy:  :giddy:
