Well...maybe it's time for you to get another bike lah. Let you re-discover the joy of owning a Beemer with lesser problems (hopefully). U plan to get a new one? Or looking around for a particular used one?

Everybody, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

For those of you going on riding trip, RIDE SAFELY.

Hey SDR, saw your ad too before you removed it..

A couple of days back, I saw this particular model on the road with white tank and the word Dakar on it..looks like a R80G/S from afar..pretty well kept too.

I wanted to catch up with the rider but I was on the opposite side of the road.

Anyway, I got lobang for a used R 100 GSPD.. this is the real one , not an upgrade.

PM me if you interested. I wanted to get it but have settled for another bike instead.Like what you once said, owners of this bike would not sell.. It would be cheaper than the one you viewed at the shop. keen? I think you would

Happy New Year Guys!

Oil molecules don't break down easily, its the additives, anti-friction stuff that wears out. Therefore, oil can be recycled, but the additives wear out after about 5000 to 10,000km depending on brand and quality.

Of course, Fully synthetic ones last longer than semi and mineral oils.

Different people tell you different things.. some owners here I speak to tell me they only use mineral oil while i read from the Micapeak bmw site to use mineral or semi syn oil during the break in period which can be from 20-32K km that's when the engine stops using oil.

After that use fully synthetic oil.

It also says automobile oil can also be used as long as the grades are correct and also because the engine is separate from the gearbox.

Cheers

Dun take too long.. I happen to stumble upon this bike last week and its at a dealer shop. I heard this bike was recently brought out from PML after about 2 years in storage there.. forgot the details, anyway owner has a few other bikes to 'look after'.

He intends to put it up for sale after replacing a seal or something but I asked if he would sell it in a 'as is' condition and his reply was yes and was asked to make him an offer.

I have yet to get back to him on that.

Any case,Its only a phone call away, provided someone else hasn't bought it yet

So for those really interested in this rare beauty..quick, do your maths. hee hee..

There's a see-thru thingy at the bottom left, something like the brake fluid reservoir. In front of the gear lever, for my RT. Brian from PML point it out to me the other time. To see the accurate level, must ride the bike for abt 4-5 km, then check. Shd see the level around half.

Hey, is this the Singapore guy who went on a long ride with his ex-stewardess wife? Wrote a book too, right? Anyone know what is the title of the book and where I can get a copy?

Thanks..

Cheers

Cat

I managed to read the book some time ago. Borrowed it from the National Library. Its tittled A Tankful of Time by Michael Fong. (Not sure if I spelt his first name correctly.)

A marvelous read! I think i read it cover to cover in abt 2 days!

If I remember correctly, I think he travelled up South east asia into South Asia and then to the Mid-east n into Europe n Africa. I think they shipped back from Gambia or sth.

I think he also did quite a lot of things to his bike when he was in Germany cos he had some good German pals who recommended him an excellent BMW workshop.

I'm recalling this stuff after reading his book about three years ago. Just imagine what an experience he must have had!

Happy reading!

Someday, home will be where my front wheel points.
