My bike battery went flat this morning, can't start, voltage meter reading was only 9, after 1 crank, it dropped to 8 (min reading on the voltage meter), so asked wife to take public, I dismantled it, placed it on the SDR - 1st tot, to PML, 2nd tot, better search around in my house vincinity. Found this shop - TAT BENG (beside Spore Casket), specialised in battery & opens as early as 8:30am, asked them if they charge battery (just being polite, if battery shop don't charge battery, then wat do they do? sell nasi lemark?, hahaha).

The boss was very shocked as he tot that giant battery belongs to SDR, he's a very nice man, told me quick charge 5mins and charges is $2 - remembered PML charged me $10-$15 and needs a day, so I asked him does his shop carry compatible battery like mine, he picked up 1, opens it and show it to me, size is a little shorter but L X B are exactly the same, all readings are the same except mine is 25Ah and his 24Ah, guys, what is Ah? any idea? He told me no difference, anyway, tt battery cost $60, changed mine @ PML 4yrs +++ was $105, excluding GST - 3% and labour $30.

GSGABES, wonder you remember I posed this question on last Sunday @ 2nd link R & R, can we use compatible battery?

Hi SDR,

I believe we can use compatible batts as long as it is according to specs for your motorcycle. When I was at M-Tecnik. GS1200 suggested I change the maintainance free batt from M-tecnik. So i did. My bike's batt spec is 12v 19Amp. But Chua changed a Yuasa 12v 18Amp for me and he said its fine. Anyway, I dun mind trying and see how is it. I will monitor it. 1 yr warranty anyway.

What I understand is the ABS for the bike is sensitive to the voltage and the current going thru. I have a friend who rides the GS who's Yuasa batt caused his ABS to feedback an error cos not enough current is going through. Probably also he seldom rides the bike. never mind.... see how ah.

Was at PML this morning, saw a 1150 Adv being kitted up to be on the road, apparently it was just sold, must be the showroom unit as the display stand was empty.

So another GS going to another Happy owner! :cheer:

I'm waiting anxiously to see if the K1200S would be a good bike. The older K1200RS seems like a very good tourer!
