Maintainance i guess u got to set aside some $ to prepare. To replace a particular mechanical part/electronic part which has reached its lifespan is quite costly, other than that servicing is just like any other class 2 bikes.

You will love the handling, brakes, and the ABS.

Thanks for replying...Thanks...

PL, didnt go to KL? Still owe u BKT, shall we hv BKT @ KL next time when my bike is back, hv not taste KL BKT for 5 yrs but still can remember how it taste. I will get e address fm my friend.

Nope. I just came back last week. But this coming Good Friday, I will be going up. hehehe

Whoa...u guys want to travel to KL together just for BKT? Come lah, come lah.

:cheeky:

On Sun, I rode Bertha to Kluang (somewhere in the middle of Johor). Went to the railway station to have breakfast (they serve very good nasi lemak and toasted bread). While moving into the carpark area, this car who's beside me didn't see my panniers and hit my right-side, causing me to tilt to the left. Lucky my left leg strong enough to hold, and lucky he realised what he had done and braked in time. Otherwise, I would've just crash onto the car which is parked on my left. I turned to look at him, but I'm using both my hands to hold the handlebar to support the weight, so can't use it to wave him to reverse. I use my head instead. I dunno how to describe how silly I look, but u all can imagine urself lah uh. hahaha. This driver, reversed his car, and i can straighten my bike again. I move off to stop somewhere in front so as not to block the entrance to the carpark, pheww..my left leg felt very weak man. I turned to look back at the driver again....aik...disappeared??? Looks like he scuttled his plan to have breakfast there after what happened. hahaha. Anyway, due to the enormous amount of calories I burnt intensively within that few minutes, I treated myself to 2 packets of nasi lemak, 1 packet of mihun, 2 toasted breads, and 2 half-boiled eggs. All washed down with one cup of hot milo, followed by one more iced-milo. *burrrp

That guy is smart, he saw your bike logo, if not, he will hv a very expensive breakfast.

Do you know any nice BKT in KL? When I was younger, may be I was too bored, I used to hv Breakfast in Malacca, Lunch @ KL and dinner @ JB. Really fun to me.

Sigh...added a few more 'marks' on the pannier, thankfully that's all. Went home and replaced my reflective strip with a bigger one. And also added some more. Show u guys next time we meet. I err...copied Gabes' & Mako's bike, can play chess on it. :cheeky:

I know there's one at Jln Imbi. They not only serves BKT, u can order additional dishes (vege, steamed fish) to go with it. But this BKT not as good as the one I brought u guys to. There's a another good one at Klang. This one thanks to my wife who found it and brought me there, and has been regretting it ever since, coz I like it. muahahaha

Maybe we shd do a weekend trip:

Breakfast @ JB - BKT

Lunch @ Melaka - Nyonya Food (Restaurant at Melaka Raya)

Dinner @ KL - a very popular restaurant in PJ (good food, fair prices, good service)

Spend one night in KL (Sat night), shopping, (clubbing if u want), or night riding (can go KL Airport, Sepang Circuit)

Sunday

Breakfast - BKT @ Klang or Jln Imbi

Lunch - Madam Kwan @ KLCC

Then slow ride back to SG. Dinner/Supper JB b4 we go back into SG.

FRAZER, :thumb: Hv been looking @ this bike @ Ubi Driving centre, the more I look at it, it just looks better. Very chiok bike. Will think about it, but it doesn't look comfortable for 2 ups and saw comments that the Bikini windshield is not at all helpful, if raise the ht of the bikini windshield, tt's get the after market windshield, it will affect the bike stability @ high speed. So, waiting for 06 or 07 FJR, hope Yamaha solved the ticking issue on the engine and heat problems.

its Fazer lah... haha...

Thats the 600 that you have been starring at... aftermarket windshield???... nope... no prob with stability... the boxes are when you have strong crosswinds, but then which bike is resistant to crosswinds...

Anyway 2 up is comfy... one up even more comfy... hehe...

I took my lessons and Class 2 tests with those Fazers @ Ubi. In my opinion, they're just not as good as my bike. WOOOHOOOOO!! http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/smilies/mwink.gif

Bike still in workshop, judging from previous experience, it should be ready by 30th March 2005, BC placed order on 16th March 2005, so 2nd April 2005?

whoo hoo hoo...u r very brave. Thought it's good to ride around for 1-2 weeks after repair b4 going on a trip like this? But anyway, 2nd April is no go for me.

FRIEND EMAIL ME THIS, JUST FYI, DON'T ARGUE WITH YOUR BOSS, YOU MAY END UP nO PAY :

QUOTE

Something to think about. The mystery is finally revealed!

When the British were in Malaya, they were being paid weekly and they argued

that locals were actually being cheated into believing that the 13th month

pay is a bonus.

Locals were being paid monthly which is equivalent to 4 weeks pay because

there are 4 weeks in a month. As the British were paid weekly, it worked out

to the same. You see, there are 7 days in a week. 4 weeks in a month. 12

months in a year. Then 12 months should work out to 48 weeks only. But 1

year worked out to 52 weeks!!! Hence the 13th month is

your own pay (not bonus??!!).

So, the British argued that there is in fact no bonus at all??? It is a very

simple calculation that stunned many!!!!

So... if u got 1 month bonus, that is actually ur pay salary. BONUS??? What

bonus???!!! hahaha....

UNQUOTE

hahaha`~!! gs 1 sdr :thumb: luckily been receiving more than 1mth "bonus" for these few years :p

Hello Daniyal. Guess you would have a good pic by now abt the 'worth' issue.

If you may, please allow me to suggest you do not ask abt the worthiness of any bike in particular in any forums. Rather, ask yourself if you are comfortable with the investment involved, if you are comfortable with your frens' comments/criticism and the good/bad of available technical help. Lastly, ask yourself if you are HAPPY with your decision Please bear in mind that the Wright Brothers did not succeed in their first plane prototype, they learnt thru mistakes.

If you have read thru this thread, you would have noticed some 'fire' abt ownership of BMW bikes. Discussion abt the worth will also normally lead to discussion on agent n bike shops which may inevitably sting them when owners share their unfortunate/unhappy experiences n stories. Whether or not the stories are true, I am sure all the owners had no ill intention of damaging the reputation.

So Daniyal, if you are still interested. We will be glad to share with you our experiences but not over such forums. Join us for kopi sessions if you can :thumb:

yup join us n we will 'poison" u`~~~ juz like my colleuge. hope he gets his gs by tis week :) sian....cannot ride for next 8days till my next review. eh suzu i gettin the shoei hornet white colour, chio hor. tinkin over the weekend cant resist the temptation :p the more i look at it the more i like it looks nicer than arai tourxcross, goin get my fren go dwn chong aik get for me then i wear at hm for few days also "song" :p lucky juz nice got last piece white colour some more my juz nice my size wat i can say....its fated~~~ :p

Can I correct you, think servicing is like any Class 2A bike. Hehehehe. Requires only 2 W5DC plugs cost about $6 each and mineral oil (mine is 2.25ltr), each is about $4, oil filter, $22 (10k km), Air - using K & N, so never change before, just wash. Tuning - $20 or usually free, Valve clearance - 10k km - $60. Seem like mine is cheaper than class 2B bike.

oh yah ehhehehe.

Eh anyway, The Fazer is a good choice really. That baby brought me everywhere! I still miss it. Windshield can easily be solved like u said.... with a aftermarket one. Power wise yes it has.... woooo.

2 up riding, i dun like it. thats my personal opinion.

Hi guys,

May I know, what is the difference between R1100R and R1100RT?

RT is the touring model? Is it the only difference is the fairing?

Did a google, cant find much info on the difference.

BTW, how much is a 2nd hand R1100R rite now? I quite like the looks of the bike.

Thanks for any info.
