Hi Guys!

My 1200GS is just a month old, and someone just decided to bang my boxer engine and run away..

Anyone knows of a reputable metal restoration and painting? I would think that would cost less than changing this part. (it's just cosmetic IMO)

And all this had to happen the day before I planned to get my crash bar installed.. :(

if you are able to remove the damaged cover and bring it to any car paint workshop, they will be able to reputty it and respray it to metal color. done that before and it is significantly cheaper than replacing..

NICE. anyway, i got a few question to ask

1) when i start my bike. the bike will die off after 10 to 20 seconds. is it the idling too low?

2) when stopping at junction, in neutral gear, it will like jerk or going to die off but never die off once in a while.

did you encounter this kind of issues?

easiest thing to do, just clean the air filter. take note on before and after idling rpm. at least you know the cleaning made a difference. take a look at your choke and ensure it is fully seated to OFF. the rest of the probable solutions needs time and effort to work on.

Try a throttle sync.

Hi, got a used 2010 F800R (16k mileage) with PC5 and full arrow exhaust system.

Rode it few times and no issue.

Only on yesterday when I started the bike, the idling speed was running inconsistently, jumping up and down in +-500rpm range.

Rode for a while and during 2 red light stops, it stalled when I closed throttle and clutch in.

Was able to restart the bike immediately, but the throttle doesn't feel responsive at all.

Reached home, off the bike and do a TPS reset, the idling was running fine again.

On/ off a few times but the idling were ok. Test rode for 5mins at low speed with purposely closed throttle and clutch in but the problem didn't repeat.

Anyone has similar issue? Am worried the bike will shut off during expressway cruising, which can be quite dangerous.

Or I have to ride it like those old 2 strokers, keep throttling at every stop, produce noise and annoy all other road users?

Any comment and advice are appreciated.

Thanks.

Tested the F800R tonight.

First and second gear clutch in, the bike won't stall.

However, third gear onwards, whenever I cutch in to a rolling stop, the bike will stall (for the first 5 mins of riding).

After riding another 10mins. The bike worked fine again.

Clutch in fully and closed throttle at third gear onwards, nothing happened and idling at slightly above 1k rpm as per normal.

May be fuel injector issue or issue related to air intake or idler control device

Funny, gotta visit PML I guess.

Anyone has similar issue?

You may want to consider the anakee 3.

Hi F800GS owners

I have owned the F800GS for about 9 months now. Thus far, there have been no problems with my bike except that the ' Info' button occasionally gets stuck in the combination switch after the bike is washed or get drenched in rain. I have feedback to the bike shop but was told that this is a known issue amongst the '13 model. Worse is there isnt an offer to replace the faulty switch. A couple of days back, the high beam lever is not catching the switch and thus I am unable to switch off the high beam.

Any suggestions on what I can do to rectify? Do I get a new combination switch and replace? Do I contact BMW Motorrad to get advice on this matter? Does the bike have an international warranty to be claimed from? Is there anyone who is able to make some repairs on the combination switch?

Please help.. Thank You

Are you riding an agent bike or PI? If agent bike go.back to them since it's less than a year young. You can try to claim under international warranty at pml or else try the agent across the causeway. Do feedback about the international warranty claim. Cheers.

I had read the Tourance Next from the tiger's thread, bike seems to wobble at high speed. Not sure if Metzler had solved the problem.

Go back to the dealer pml to report the issue . It might be a gasket problem. A replacement should be FOC if it under warranty .
