Ok, my K1200LT's ABS lights are flashing alternately. Anyone can recommend a good BMW mechanic? The last time my K1200LT went in for oil change I found a tool in the fairing... :( had too many bad experience with PML, planning to use mechanic outside if someone can recommend. Don't think this is big issue, but I'd love to get the bike checked out.

Thanks

yup. Alan of Perfection is good for the job. Especially if you want your bike out of the shop expediently.

k is not necessary an inline 4. just inline engines.

R = boxer

F = parallel twin

G = single

When you have walked my path of pain and suffering

you will understand my need for revenge and to inflict pain on those who have betrayed me

As a scorpion bides its time to strike so shall I wait for that moment to obtain my vengeance

And my mocking laughter shall be the last thing they hear. In The End, We Remember Not The Words Of Our Enemies, But The Silence Of Friendships

how do you secure your bike for up north rides?

Hi guys, just wanted to get some advise as to how you normally secure your bikes on overnight /long trips up north? Padlock? Disc lock?

Any advise?

The R designation is now for boxer configuration based on current line models. For older BMW motorcycles in the 1920s to 1950s etc it can be single as well. e.g. R27, R25, R67.

The F designation is only now parallel engined because of the current line-up. It can be descriptive of single cylinder models too e.g. the older F650s around year 2000 to 2007 are singles.

There is also the S, which is unique to the S1000R now.

Parallel twin essentially an inline two engine. By right it should be categorised under K series joining the IL3, IL4 and IL6 engines :thirsty:

I will always have a disc lock and canvas each time for travel. I guess these 2 are the most basic necessity. Bike alarms are up to individual preference, personally i hate it.

Of course choose where u park wisely e.g well lit areas, with guards etc..
