Swing arm vs Pro arm

What is the different Swing arm and Pro arm, other than the looks, btw if got photo illustrate best, cause i don't know what is swing arm and pro arm. sorry =/

i think proarm is better is cornering...although only 1side...but alot of research is been done ...alot of big bikes are fitted wid proarm..ducati all this..its heavier den swingarm thou..

 

but during race time its better wid proarm..easy to change tyre den swingarm...of cos looks better...

 

NSR got 2 type...1 is sp 1 is rr..SP is proarm..RR is swingarm..alot ppl dunno the bike is swingarm(rr) still go around saying its a sp...lmao...~

The Ducati 999 has a double sided swingarm, as it's better for corners. However for the 1098, the marketing guys had it one up the engineers. Single sided swingarms simply looks way cool. Score 1 for form over function.

 

A single sided swingarm needs to be significantly over-engineered to achieve the same level of strength and stiffness as a double sided design.
