Yes, heard of it.

But its not a given, that the houses there are protected or maintained.

One of my office is still trying to dispose of 2 apartments in Port Dickson, because its poorly maintained and there is now termites infestations. No one wants to buy or take over the maintenance/security.

Bike theft is rampant in JB and KL no? Also a few years back when the perpetrators predicted that many SG bikers are riding up to Sepang to watch MotoGP.

I'd say MY is a big country and yes, there are safe neighborhoods for you and your bike. But even that, big bikes can still attract thieves that may follow you home and wait for the right moment to snipe.

So yeah, locks and protection is a must. The last time me and my friend went over to his dad's house in KL, we chained our front wheels to one of the window grilles inside our house. Topped it all up with a bike cover for each of us.

Be patient with your ride. It'll stay upright for you - Anonymous

sheez, just 3 days and already broken into. I wonder how some singaporeans buy JB homes and keep it safe. Are these Setia homes with guarded communities? Maybe short stay homes, can get condo in city area safer bet?

No, even gated communities are not safe. The security guards in Malaysia are lowly-paid so the tempation to facilitate (or participate in) a house burglary is always there, if there is an opportunity.

Security in almost every country is not a given, even in developed countries like the US. Best option for those who want security is to stay in Singapore's HDB. Safe, clean and affordable. Thanks to our beloved P A P.

Ok, design my own house, with steel rods lock system for all openings plus rolling shutters. And put a few dogs in the yard as well. That ought to do it!!!

Actually, new Iskandar projects such as Straits View Residences in Permas Jaya or Horizon Hills in Nusajaya seems to be pretty secured. Have you seen their gated guarded communities?

Park inside house, invest in disc locks, padlocks, alarms, throttle locks, canvas, chain it, put guard dogs, make the outside look as horrible as you can. Bike thieves don't really go for big bikes though, not much market for it in Msia.

That won't stop a low life deadbeat from stealing an ohlins damper and mounting it on his kup kia. The problem is that we invite envy into their eyes. Envy will lead to many unpleasant acts.

At least the low life deadbeat has a reason, there are others that makes life difficult just because they don't like where you come from.

Well, work out whether you are eligible to buy a foreign property yet. Or can rent out your property yet. And convince your wife lah.

You can also rent in Malaysia, while renting out your sg hdb.

Lived in a semi-d there for bout 2 yrs, many years ago n one of a Singaporean neighbour's car (Malaysian registered) was stolen inside e compound which was secured by metal gates.. Apparently another neighbour saw a towing truck standing by outside e house.. Few guys climbed over e gates n cut e padlocks n e rest r history.. E house was vacant coz e owner n his family was away at that time.. E neighbour didnt call for police coz tot they r repossessor..

Wow.. Mind telling us the location of the house / neighbourhood? And was the malaysian-registered car expensive or new? I believe the thieves usually target Japanese makes as they are always in demand in Malaysia.
