Honda Blackbird CBR1100 XX

Hi all bird riders.I jz sold my ST 11 n intends to get a BB which is my dream bike back in 2000 when I got a ZX-11 cos budget wise.BB then was very expensive. Now BB still stick to my mind.

I am eyeing a FR plate year 1999 EFI model, price also swee at 5k plus region(Good price?)Went to view the bike,outlook good. However,after starting the bike, the auto choke rise to rpm 1k plus which i think is normal.Thereafter maintain 1k+- rpm.During warming up time, I heard knocking sound from the engine area,but when clutch in,the sound gone and engine silent.De-clutch and the knocking sound will comes back. Once warm up,the knocking seem to gone. The knocking sound Izzt something to do with the clutch housing?(what i learn from my fren).If yes, roughly how much to repair or change it?In 2001 I ever owned a Version S, the bike also generate knocking sound during the warming up time,but it goes off once warm up.It did not give me any pro though.But it was a crab. unlike EFI for this BB.

I am always particular about temp. level for big bike. My ST always get heated up fast but maintained at half level. Can know BB normal riding in day will maintain at half or between half and 3/4? I test the bike by engine running in stationary and about 10-15min, the fan turns on and temp. pointer points at 1/2 mark and maintained.

Or izzt the tuning problem? I had never own any EFI engine bike so know nuts.....

Bird gurus here kindly advice as I really wish to own my dream bike for once...and join u guys for touring in due course.

I was travelling from bugis towards chinatown along North Bridge Rd.

I was riding on the extreme right lane wen a "Black" FR plate blackbird suddenly came out from the small lane of Bras Basah causing me to brake adruptly. Hence I horn once to alert him. (I'm still using an OEM horn)

 

Both of us stop at the red light in front of bras basah. We never had any eye contect as I was behind him. When the light change, he cut across to the extreme left lane without signalling. I'm not against him for not using his signal but, when he was about to turn left towards suntec direction, he raised his right hand and pointed his MIDDLE FINGER at my wife. I did not look at him as I need to look out for traffic in front of me but my wife saw it.

 

Which gentlemen would point his middle finger at a lady regardless a friend or someone he dun know??

 

I feel that, being gentlemen, the least basic manners is to respect others therefore others would respect u, realise ur mistakes and be humble. Vulgarities and hand signals on roads (eg. middle finger) are as good as ROAD BULLY which are chargeable under the panel code.

 

I'm open for comments here, best if the fellow rider is reading this - Hope you will be more gracious and be like a gentlemen.

Definitely a bad sign. Very unbecoming of a BB owner. Lucky not me leh cos i do not do that kind of thing. (by the way, mine is a silver BB). HE must be quite a rider, turning left with only one hand (left).

 

Chill out bro, this type of action will catch up with him one day. Relax lah, there are all kind of people out there.

I think that the one you are looking have the round dials for the speedometer. Mine is the 2001 model but also EFI. Do not mind showing you how a proper tune BB would sound cos i have been servicing my bike well for the last 15000 kilos since i took over.

 

I have a) Changed the CCT and rechecked all the shims on the valves.

b) balanced the throttle body for all the opening timing for the bike.

c) Replaced the complete clutch assembly.

d) Changed to new throttle cable.

 

THis firday, will be doing my 100,000 kilos engine oil change with new spark plugs and air filter too.

Any good workshop to recommend for North part like AMK or Defu Lane?I used to send my ST to Go Pa in AMK autopoint. Apart from him any other good place to change EO,plugs,EO filter and flushed radiator and change coolent?

 

During my ownership of ZX-11,I used to used Bridgestones BT56. Any recommendation for rear tire? BT020? Any workshop sell reasonable price?

FI staying lit..

According to manual:

1. Loose or poor contacts pn MAP sensor connector

2. Short circult in service check connector wire

3. Faulty ECM

 

there is no 5 blinks.. check closely.. is the 1st blink a long blink?

dun worry.. its the clutch housing which is knocking... common problem for a bird..

Bt057 is the replacement for Bt 056..

I feel safe after hearing so many BB riders views.Being riding the BB,what a different exprience as compared to my ST11 in terms of power and posture. My back really pain at times.......

I am new here too. Sexyh very friendly chap and we share an idea of going for a 1 day short trip whereby we set off in the morning and return by night time. Place like Malacca.....weekends would be prefer as we need reserve a day for our love 1(wife and son)You keen?Maybe Ongbak too....
