Thanks Guys for the advice.

Hey 350km is very good. For a Class 2 bike thats real value for money.

i can only clock about 250 - 260km on a full tank,

after servicing the carbs.

Will try to find the problem.

i normally pump about 30 - 35 dollars worth of shell 98 for a full tank.

But thats only about 16 plus liters. Bike specs says BB carb model can hold 22 liters. so i'm guessing that the remaining 6 liters are reserve but got no indication on the bike. not willing to try as BB too heavy to push.

Oh yar... may i check whats the air pressure used for your front+rear tyres?

i quite blur, so maybe can explain in layman's terms, like 'turn the knob of the air pressure meter to 240'... hehe

Merci

For mine it was the throttle bodies out of sync which caused high consumption. After syncing it has improved tremendously.

Other things I can think of is bad wheel bearings and brakes not releasing fully. If your brake pads are wearing out really fast this could be a clue.

i think my mech might have sych throttle bodies too, they are located under the airbox rite?

For tyre pressure, my 01 model is for cold tyres 290kpa or 42psi for both frnt n rear, with or without pillion or highspeed.

I did it at Boon Siew. Bought the key, went to cut it, then brought it back to reprogram. I cut the key near the kato curry rice stall at Jln Besar. The Boon Siew people will give you the address.

Yup. You will know if he synced it, he needs to use a vacuum gauge, and probably hook up a seperate fuel supply system if your tank has to be removed.

than i guess thts not wat he did. Unless he dun have tht gauge he use Argaration :slapforehead:

This is definitely better (cheaper) than Boon Siew option, didn't know of this. Last time it cost me something like $80 - 90.

Will Loois help you program the key if you did not buy the bike from them?

This is my guess, too lazy to go look at the BB engine diagrams...

The camshaft is driven by the power of your crankshaft (which is in turn powered by the pistons). To transfer the power from the crankshaft to the camshaft, engine builders have 2 choices, using a chain (like how you transfer power from your engine to your rear wheel), or using gears.

So the cam chain is probably used to transfer power from the crankshaft to the camshaft. Because the chain has slack and will slack with use, you need a spring loaded or hydraulic tensioner to keep the chains tight, by pushing against it.

For when to change, best to just follow the manual recommendations, they built the bike, they'll know best. Bike shop owners like to ask you to change it very often, but it's not really necessary. My guess is 100,000kms?

Oh, and it's also not necessary to change the cam chain. A mechanic did try to get me to change it though, but from what I understand, it's not necessary. It's constantly lubricated, so unlike your external drive chain, the internal chain will last probably for the lifespan of your engine.

I was getting abt there too. Take note of yar mileage clocked. See if yar bike bike has loud ticking sounds frm the top of the cylinder block.

Might be a sign to do valve clearance i guess. I m yet to speak to the mech who did this n see if he can tell me wat exactly he did tht i can get a gd FC now.

Hey rAjOaNa,seems like my bike is having those symptoms.loud ticking sound from the top block. Will be doing my valve clearance on Mon so i hope to see some improvements on the bike performance.

Valve clearance is..................some wear and tear causing some irregularity on th ecam shaft. All intake shim and exhaust shims need to be balance to ensure smooth engine performance.correct me if i'm wrong. This also may improve ur fuel efficiency too.

Its located at Blk 3007 facing the coffeeshop.Beside it is a workshop doing those old volkswagon cars.Only 2 mechs. Its done within 1 day depends on wat time u arrive and whether they are busy.Friendly chaps though.Cost is within $300 below but depends if u change other stuffs too.

Do you have to re-sync the throttle bodies once you adjust the valve clearance?

Also, is there another good shop that is knowledgeable about blackbirds besides K&T?

Thanks.

Can try Ah Lai juz like "greysnail" mentioned.....

Just got my bb dyno-ed at Unity yesterday. Ah Siong there was very helpful and i am please with the dyno results. The bike is fitted with Power Commander USB 3 and a full Yoshi system and rear wheel power rated at almost 138hp.

Was not able to test out the bike cos it rained yesterday. Have topped up full tank and will update here sometime later regarding fuel consumption. Generally air/ fuel ratio is good all around at 13/ 1 (different throttle position). Ciao! :cheeky:

Hey bro can i noe hw much was it 2 do de dyno run n install de PC3 @ Unity pls? Also de fuel consumption ? Jus got a full system 4 my bird n intend 2 2 do it there. TQ.
