bosses, just to check, our bb is it when temp high sometimes cannot start.

was stuck at causeway last night temp went up to 114 deg then off it, and couldn't start after that.

 

got to wait like 5 mins then can start again.

 

normal?

hmm.. been suing analog, hence cant keep track of the temp.. but normally if ur bike gets overheated, you will not be able to start the engine.. my fireblade is a gd example.. but gt to wait for more than 5 mins to cool down..

Hmmm.. sounds familiar.... I had a fren wiz the same prob yesterday too.. in fact this morning bout 1am....coz I was the 1 who push start 4 him when temp is low. He told me batt rectifier had recently changed... I suspect might be the coil....not really sure tho...coz I'm riding a carb model....

Hi Wallaby, no offense meant, if you need a mid size bike and don't want to pay hard cash, i have a spare 2003 VFR800 vtec ABS lying around with another 32 installments X $300. Condition is about 8/10 but everything else is ok. Small scratches on the left side of bike during a tip when parking one day.

 

If interested can sms me or meet up to discuss cos when my BB is out, do not need 2 bikes (real reason is that my wife is not happy cos i spent too much).

 

On second thought....hmmmm....:p

Juz for ur info,there's no bosses ard here...all are equal:angel:

to ans ur question,i need to ask u some question.

Suppose urs is FI model,

1)Was ur bird running that time or u juz stop and start,stop and start due to the jam.(i noe some do this due to lack of leg muscle)

This may weaken the battery!

2)When u turn the key,did the radiator fan operate?

A distintive sound may appear from the front.Fan at work.

3)Did u go for coolant flush or coolant change?

 

coz my temp hit 120°C before.check for any leak at the hoses area.

Get ur batt , rectifier n coil checked. Happened 2 me b4. Coil was burnt.

hie bro.....

that sound kinda of strange

the cooling fan should kick in at 100 degrees n maintain the temp at 94 til 96deg

as for the start up it should have no problems it doesn't effect the starter or watever

if the temp goes in too high u have to check ur coolant level n also the sensor.....

hope the info is good enuf

no la...ha i went in 2am till 3.30am onli.

mine is blue bb.

 

earlier at Esso sembawang road also saw a silver bb. smiled to the rider. friendly guy.

ya the radiator fan did start when i started ignition, i can hear the whizzing sound. coolant was flushed n changed at my bike shop.

 

wandering whether is it coil prob. would have cost me a bomb if it is?

OMG got to push to Ubi shop again. headache.

 

My shop once told me if hit 104deg no good liao. that JB trip hit 114deg.

hell. all is no good. must send to check.

Sorry to dissappoint penyu, wish i have another set of disc for you.

 

My bike is almost complete. Only small adjustments like ERP Unit bracket, placement of hazard light switch and of course (one of the better reason for having the front fork) the settings allowed to the dampening and rebound of the front end.

 

Notice the faint 2-tone paint work copied from 2007 BB models. :thumb:

bro really envy ur mods man hahahaha i cnt do tht much just wanna change the springs to ohlins which come with the rear set as well.......its ok bro bout the galfer disc good items sure to be snap up very fast.....

Just to share some of the problem face in overheating. Technically speaking, the areas tt nd to be checked for such problem are:

 

1. Coolant Leakage - sign of leakage undercarriage.

2. Thermostat - partially open will cause overheating cos the voulme of coolant cannot pass thru quickly.

3. Radiator cap - rubber perished/weak spring thus increasing the boiling point.

4. Water pump - no/less coolant circulation for cooling

5. Radiator fin - when the radiator fin is partially blocked air cannot pass thru to cool the coolant (tis area is usually neglected)

6. Radiator - Partially or chocked radiator looses its cooling function, coolant cannot pass thru the radiator cooling fin.

 

Hope the nxt time u got overheating problem do checks these area b4 spending unnecessary cost.
