Definetly the best brakes when it comes to street and city riding, especially our congested Orchard road. Braking is a breeze. But the problem arise under harsh and hard braking, the rear wheel lock up too easily. I'm used to drifting before entering turn 3 of PG, but my balls shrink when the BB starts to lose traction on its rear. Too heavy to counter-steer. The CBS are really pain in the ass when problems arises, taking into consideration most of ours are near a decade old already.

Maybe because the BB was never meant to be a out and out track weapon

Guess its still the best bike for what it was built for

hey fellow bb guru, recently when i rode my bro y2k bb i sort of feel that the rear suspension haas sunk down as there is minimal rebound feel when i sat on top the bike usin my ass jumpin up & dwn the seat. Izzit an indication that the stock absorber is goin up the lorry due to old age + wear & tear?

I went to consult HKL and they recommended me to replaced with Ohlins fully adjustable with nitrogen cylinder price at 1.7k+ he also told me that it can be serviced with replacin new oil & toppin up of nitrogen gas in future...

Kindly advised as my bro will be bringin the bike up north for a long trip next mth, dun wan anytin bad to happen due to suspension failure

Tks all for ur kind advise & comments...

hey pizzaboy.....from the way u describe it.....the showa stock shock is gone.....due to wear n tear.....well i am using ohlins n recently serviced it to fit my riding style n i must say its worth every penny of its cost.....there are other brands u can try depending on the budget such as hyper pro and WP but i recommend WP as tge review n tech is par to ohlins......i would say 2nd to ohlins.....but i seen some bb using penska shock which is not bad too which u cam try but i suggest u make some research before investing in one.....good luck

Thats from the real different experience. guess CBS is not meant for track as is links the front n rear at certain percentage together. I never tried track b4, but was jus having a comparison with a few of my other rides like the gen 1 FZ1 n gen 2 FZ6. Also my fren's busa both version their rear is effortless to lock. Anyway just an experience from a near miss from my previous BB gg at abt 250 had to e-brake i thought tht was it made it through n was also surprised did not lock my rear unlike my other rides highly possible wld have locked the rear. But this is still very different from track experience i guess. Btw did u delinked yar CBS for track?

i've checked with bikelab regardin penske suspension & motoworld for their hyperpro 3D shocks... Price wise varies from 950 - 2k+

Think i will go for Ohlins as recomended by their trained specialist (ah xiong) from HKL since its somewhere within the budget.

Any other bros on Ohlins? Like to gather more feedbacks/reviews regardin this brand of gantong

Bro

I think there was something really wrong with ure CBS that u experinced skid with the CBS.. If u were travelling at 280 and a car swerved into ure lane.. CBS is ure best bet provided you still had enuff speed of re-action and stopping distance.

When you only use ure back brake, the stopping distance in longer with a higher change of locking up the wheels and high siding.... If only the front brake, the stopping distance is shorter but there is a real chane u'd endo and still crash.. The shortest braking distance is achived by combined braking, hence Honda developed CBS.. the ultimate is of course cadence braking also known as the stop and go stop and go.... (aka ABS)

As I said earlier the BB was never a track machine, hence there was never a need to have de-linked brakes. All Honda Touers and even the CBR600/1000 from 10 onwards have CBS/ABS on it.. And those are track bikes

Anyway if ure travelling at 280kmh on a road where a car might swerve in, I dont think there are any brakes in the market that is going to save you
