Guyss................. n gerl

Firstly, i'm sorry to hear bout dzqv53 got to overhaul da bike. Its juz not ur luck bro. To all mechanical things, they sure have some fault here n there, maybe minor fault or major......... nothing is perfect.

BUT I DO HOPE PPL WONT HAVE THE BAD IMPRESSION OF GTS 200

I've been away to Kl, juz got home noon juz now, with my GTS. Here is my review........

My top speed is at 130km/hr........confirm reach redline, more than 9000rpm

My cruising speed is at 110km/hr.........at 8000rpm

Handling is superb, good response + good suspensions

Braking is quite good. It waS raining when i went there, the tyres are exceptionally good at crusing speed. So skids........

The downside is the drag. As i'm 1.86m tall, the windshield isn't giving me the comort tt i've expected at high speed. Similar to sportbikes, I got to bend my body towards the front to get the top speed.

Petrol consumtion drops as i travelled all the way to KL non stop. bout 320km then the petrol indicator blinking. But on the way back to sg, had 3 stops, petrol consumtion back to normal...... blinking at 340++km.

As sum1 mentioned, sumtimes my bike "jerked" too, but i tink it got sumtink to do with the combustion. Mayb the spark, oil or air combination not perfect.

Recomendations..........

I do hope there's aftermarket windshields....mayb frm MRA... to get a more streamlined screens. Mayb it should cover over the knuckles too..... or maybe i juz install those for off road bikes.........

N also, the location where we position of feet.........Need to really install sumtink to better improve the aerodynamics..... Similar to cubs or vespas, where as their bikes fairings are bent inwards....

Better keep ur road tax somewhere safe, maybe inside ur bike..... as i tink i ride too fast.....the paper slid out of the disc.......

My comments

I REALLY LOVE MY GTS . No aching shoulders....... no bags to b mounted on the tanl etc...........

Bear in mind, the above comments n reviews are done with SYM GTS 200 STOCK PARTS. No other accesories attached..... no box etc.......... Aditional weight on the bike is roughly 100kg (myself, my stuffs, my tools)

HELP NEEDED ...................

I also noticed tt i'm riding a belt driven bike ( duh.......) , i need opinion from the PROs.............

What kind of tools do i need to bring for touring...........??

I tink i should bring extra belt n rollers...........

THose tubeless tyre repair kit............

spark pulg.................

wat else???

I do believe in m'sia n thailand they hav scoots......n some shops can repair scoots........ so izzit eccential for me to learn how to change belt??? i knw its not as easy as those chain driven bikes........ but i heard i will need some special tools rite???

I'll be going off to penang thz fridae nite...... the only scoot going there among my frens........ so i want to get those neccasry stuff ASAP.........

Impact wrench, those 12volts type that you can get at IMM Giant. It's for removing the retaining nut holding the clutch.

If possible, try to practice once before you go. Then you'll know the kind of tools you'll need.

OLD NO GO, NEW NO COME.

The sequence or removing and putting back is important. So is the directions of certain parts. Do it wrong and your transmission is kaputz.

OLD NO GO, NEW NO COME.

Hmm..actually 110km/hr is the begining of red line already but i'm glad to hear you're loading the bike with 100kg and it still manage to go that fast..but with that kind of load it's the acceleration that will suck.

you have tested your bike's reliability by traveling to KL!i'm glad you made it back without any problem.Maybe u should send it for a thorough checking before embarking on your next journey.

 just got back from the bike shop @ ubi will not name it pai seh maybe got GTS outing then tell u all but lucky got warranty lah bo bomb liao

Any something i discover about GTS (When u lose something u gain something) some finding lah may not be true

I use to have the jerk when at high speed but during the leaking period high speed was smooth with zero jerk. Reason could be lesser engine oil makes the engine pressure lower = less resistance opposing the movement within the engine.

Why i conclude this is before i went to bikeshop i re-top the EO about 100cc the jerking came back again even at not very high speed.

The jerking problem could be cause by over topping the EO as it only requires 0.8l maybe a bit less will be good next time.

Correct me if i am wrong pls

Just some 2 cents though

And 1 last thing to add I STILL LOVE MY GTS

Possible causes from the mech there is that it could be a badly installed casket, as i saw abit of casket slided out from the lower engine block when they remove the seat to inspect.

I'm not sure at wat load the acceleration starts to deteriorate...... as i'm 90kg....n the heaviest pillion is my dad. roughtly around the same weight......... but bcoz he got heart prob...i dunt wanna ride so fast.......the bike does feel heavy but on normal ride condition...shouldnt b a prob.....

i'm sending the bike for servicing.......n hoping the brackets for the box has arrive..... so i can try again esp the handling when riding up north....

so far so good..........gts really impresses me...n some of my chain-driven bike frens...

once, i looked down on belt-driven bikes, alwayz tot tt the bikes always giv trouble... but now after owning da bike, i've alwayz tell my "wife" to really prove itself tt she can b very reliable. it really depend on the owner how the bike is maintained n looked after.

but yet, its still too early to say gts is a good bike. but so far so good....... n hope nothing serious will hapen to her............

It's really great i'd say..if i'm alone(47kg)..every time after sending my gf home..i can really feel the bike performing.Acceleration from 0-60 is pretty adequet for urban use.Maybe its the acceleration after 60.

And With my 40kg Gf,It felt like a bicycle.Wonder if there's any problem as the performance exponentially drops with a 40kg pillion..

BOx arrived already..it looks kinda like the vtecII rack! But u might have to make an appointment with your bike shop to have it installed.

yah..i remember if u add too much EO..your comsumption will increase.

anyway this bike is at least equiped with a dip stick! So use it!

Fill up and check the indicator.THe last time i changed EO i top it at half between the upper and lower limit.i'm checking it every 2 weeks.I didn't really feel any jerking, maybe i'm insensitive :cheeky:

hehe..Actually accelerating towards top speed, even if dun wana bend also cannot cos usually begining from 220km/hr cannot tahan the drag liao.At 280km/hr My pillion's helmet flew off cos the string broke on NSHW,it might have been my head if i didnt bend forward*Sarcasm* :giddy:

Both side service is free. But since that is the agent for SYM. maybe should go there check it out. Maybe they are better in servicing there? And if need to change anything i think there is the best place to do it. Well, going there later. anything will post here..

So, no servicing can be done there.....it's more like a store, rather than a bike shop.
