i think like what bigcow say the honda silverwing engine is quite durable.

when i change the engine oil can't really see the metal bits.. unlike my old bike..

which can really see metal bits...

Since after i changed to Metzeler for my rear tire, think I get a better feeling but I can't really comment much till I get the front change too. This would then be fair to post any comment on the Metzeler tire. So far so good. The tire feel abit sticky after travelling and wet day seems better.

Now waiting for the front to arrive, last heard was either early Feb. or March.

Bro,

I'm using Michellin Pilot Sports now.

No problem so far.

Went touring on it.

Cornering also very alright.

My opinions only.

you forgot to mention its 2 up cornering.

Just called my mechanic..

Only Rear tyres of SW, the one changed by CCK is available. But no front tyres:dot:

Any other models to recommend ? Michellin gold standard might not have the correct size. For dunlop, the latest I heard it got tyre burst problem..:sian:

:btw: it has to be good on the wets. Bridgestone tyres are disappointing so far.

where did you hear the tires burst news?

so far the 2 wingers thats using the dunlop have no complain leh. o_O

for most tires like bridgestone its all depending on which line of tires you are using. :dot:

wat brand of tires u talking abt? Pirelli tires??

they have the sizes for your bike. its whether u able to get it or not.

in the michellin website, if u search tires for honda silverwing, the result is only gold standard. but the distributor didn't bring this size in. pilot sport is not in the result page. but got the correct size.

bridgestone makes good and quality tires. just too bad the Hoops front tires are kinda slippery. but u can adjust the tire pressure to accomodate the different tarmac u travel on. for silverwing this pair of tires are still one of the best.

till now. the best tire for silverwing is still the IRC Japan tires which comes with the bike. go check out the overseas silverwing forums. this is still one of the best recommended tires. just dun understand why so many people just dun wan this tires. just because of bad experience with the thai made IRC tires. these people never really test out these tires but just change them away.

u can't just base on one mech's opinion then judge. u got to be more hard working to ask around and find out more. this is for u and your pillion's safety. dun forget u haven't really play many different types of tires b4. scoots are quite different from normal bikes.

I agree with BIGCOW that just because of what we hear about a particular brand or model from some unverified source we make a decision and change the tyres.

I also heard a lot of bad about the IRC tyres and when i took my latest SW it came with them!!! But now after riding for about 2 months plus in wet / dry / long distance / cornering conditions i must seriously retract my comments. Just dont push them like you do on a sports bike and check the tyre pressures at least once a week. Front 200 and rear 235kpa for single riding. And please if you really can leave out that BREADBOX (topbox to some) its presence really affects the handling and wear on the rear tyre. If you really have to carry more stuff use a DUFFLE Bag that is waterproof and strap it to the passenger seat or rear wing.

Thank You all for the inputs..:)

My current tyres is based solely on my riding feeling. I just don't feel confident to ride in the wet if I compare my current ride SW & bridgestone setting. For X9 & Michellin gold standard setting from my previous ride, I don't have such fear. Or perhaps because of my past good riding feeling, I expect too much for my current ride

I think bigcow also brought out a point to adjust the tyre pressure to suit different tarmac. So far I have been following the recommended pressure setting and check the pressure once a week. Looks like I may try to make some adjustment.

i am using the bridgestone hoop tyre that came with the bike. No problem with the tyre so far. Only time i i had problem was when i took a bend at 130km/hr or maybe more. But that might be becos of my top box or simply becos i overestimated the bike's capabilities. there were many time i hard brake till the front wheel have screeching sound. but it still stuck there. So i dun think there should be any problem with the tyre.

N on wet roads on the x'pressway, i often wack till 120km/hr so i can hide from the rain. no wobbling or funny feeling. unless if touch the painted lines. But wat tyres wun slip abit on the painted lines during wet?

i think it all boils down to individual's riding style.

Just to check, anyone feels that the right brake lever is too powerful, when i just tap it abit, it seems like i'm doing an e-brake hmmm :giddy: can this be adjusted?

When i close the throttle on the SW while travelling, i notice that the speed is already reduce drastically, so do you bros still tap brake when you all are slowing down to indicate to the back driver that you are stopping or just close the throttle and roll to a stop? Please advise, thanks.

scooters got no clutch in like your phantom, therefore close throttle = engine brake. get used to it and learn how to control your right wrist

from my experience in riding many different bikes b4, a sports bike can e-brake much better and faster than a scram. thus a fork tat is soft can't give u a e-brake feeling. even a scoot can e-brake better than a scram. but it all goes down to the weight and the load carried.
