found out on sunday's rc that the bikes are assigned for the test...and that the bike you use for the warm up will not be the same bike you use for the test. argh! some of those bikes can really be tough to handle. the other day i got one that is very difficult to engage 1st gear. i had a problem everytime i stop...had to do a lot of extra kicking early just to ensure i get to 1st gear. then yesterday got a bike that did not like to get to neutral...less of a problem here i suppose.

anyone knows how the bikes are assigned for the test? mine is coming up on thursday.

Unless you request for low seat, it'll be like... "You take this, you take that, GO GO GO!!!!"

No worries, I pass TP with a faulty gearbox, forgot which bike number. Never engage 1st Gear much, throughout the whole test.

Best part is that, I did Fig.8 with gear 3, after unknowingly assumed I was in gear 1 when moving off. The bike rattle through the course like helicoptor, but no demerit points!

Whole TP test, i demoralised cuz I thought I screwed up at fig.8, I went everywhere with gear2 and rev my way through when moving off, cuz the gear 1 practically not there. I didn't see who got my bike after that, poor fellow...

what happened to you was opposite for me. all the guys took the M and then i'm left with like .... i had to do so many folds and i had difficulty changing gears because -.- the pants was just too long and big.

Just go to a guy holding on to the coveted size M, give a sweetest smile and with your most husky voice, "Excuse me Kor kor, can I have the size M rain gears?", and wink wink.

I never drag gear lor, I simply start in a higher gear and after that, all is normal, just simply no gear 1. Ride the test route outside, simply bored, cuz thought I'm done for.. haha.

yeah...i'm going for the test tomorrow morning as well. just finished my final circuit revision this afternoon...and one last road revision tonight. kinda nervous man...gee...

...apparently most people fail at the emergency brake...especially when somebody in front had a skid. so to all those going for test tomorrow...remember to use your front brake to slow you down...and less rear brake so you don't skid!

and don't forget to read that white booklet they gave out!!

all the best!!

wow...now i know how the tp test feels like :-) well, i passed :-)

for those who have yet to take your test, here are some points that i think you should pay attention to.

1. do plenty of circuit revisions and space them out. it does not really help you very much to do 4 revisions the day before the test. rather, space them out so you do 1 revision every 1-2 days before the test. your muscles need time to build memory and you need the time to rest in between.

2. book plenty of road revisions before your test. i booked 5. and each time i end up making some form of mistake, or find an area or two that i should pay more attention to. these revisions add up and really make you much more aware of the common pitfalls and help you counter them.

3. go for the warm up. sleep early the night before and wake up early. have a light breakfast. drink enough water.

4. go slow during the test. it doesn't matter if you are the slowest of the lot. what they are looking out for is your confidence and ability to handle the bike. so take your time.

the biggest difficulty i find in this entire thing is the waiting. gotta wait to submit docs. gotta wait for id check. gotta wait for your turn to test. gotta wait till everyone is done. gotta wait for your results. gotta wait for your license. the point is...find a way to occupy yourself so you don't go crazy from nervousness :-) i had a book with me and that helped a bunch.

okidoki. to all those who passed today...congrats!!! to those who are taking their test soon, ALL THE BEST!!

Hey scubasimon,

I finally know who you are after going to your blog :) Nice shave and really envy your round head shape. I think you are number 7 right? I was 13 and one of the old people there. How I wish I could queue up among those in the 80..

if failed, how long it takes to book the next test

U can book anytime after your last attempt, it's usually a wait of 5-6 weeks with a compulsory booking of RR. Meaning before you go to the page to book your 2nd TP attempt, you must have a RR session booked.

Not a chance mate.. those are for young lads..... I got Tag 22, 17 and then 21, haiz.. I'm getting old.

Wait, what's TRT?

Check my siggy. It's a dig at newbies who ride in the mentioned attires, throwing everything learnt straight into long kang on way out of centres, after passing.

tell me about it...we were doing the pillion riding thing today after passing and i was putting on my guards. one of the instructors said we don't have to put that on anymore as we have passed! :faint: anyway, i put mine on still as i'm a roller blader and have fallen before with terrible results even with full guards on.

and yah...even while at the pillion riding exercise, some people were doing crazy lane changes, terribly wobbly starts, no check backs...sigh...this AFTER viewing that horrible video...AND that strange sounding pledge...AND countless reminders by the instructors before we embarked on our journey today...hmmm...must be something to do with youth and their propensity for risk...

oh...this is an optional pillion riding experience...they only had 8 places...and we rode pillion out on the streets from SSDC in YCK all the way to the new SSDC site in Woodlands...and back. was a good experience. though if anyone who is taking test thinking of taking it...be sure to get a pillion whom you trust enough...cos i almost died on the way back riding as a pillion :-)
