Derived from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymkhana_(motorsport)

Gymkhana is a type of motorsport practiced in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. Similar to autocross, gymkhana courses are often very complex and memorizing the course is a significant part of achieving a fast time. The governing body of Gymkhana in Japan is the Japan Auto Federation, a Japanese division of the FIA.

Gymkhana events are time and/or speed events in an automobile. These can feature obstacles such as cones, tires, and barrels. The driver must maneuver through a predetermined "track" performing many different driving techniques. What separates gymkhana from traditional autocross events is that the gymkhana requires drivers to perform reversals, 180 degree spins, 360 degree spins, parking boxes, figure 8s and other advanced skills. Drifting is also encouraged where helpful or necessary. Essentially, a gymkhana is any event featuring a starting point, a finish line and some sort of "obstacle" to get through, around, or by, all within a time limit.

you mean the slalom?

if that's the one, then you have to accelerate when you start, eye point on centre between cone 1 and kerb, change to gear 2 just before you reach the first cone and release clutch slowly, let your bike roll without throttle towards 2nd cone. again, eyepoint now on the centre between 2nd cone and kerb, once you reach 2nd cone, throttle gently, eyepoint now on centre between 3rd cone and kerb, just before reaching cone 3, release throttle, once you reach cone 3, eyepoint on centre between 4th cone and kerb, throttle gently again.

keep your throttle action smooth...go slow and steady...no need to rush. sure can one!

try to throttle

How you expect us to help you when you're not specific? This is SSDC thread, how do we know what practical item/hazard are you now doing? Why don't you ask the instructors for tips and advices? Repeating practicals are part and parcel in a course.

my favorite part of any CR is this... open throttle as you approach the 1st bend then bank like siao, and throttle to the next cone... too bad the crash bars protrude alot, always scrape them when i turn... hahahaha....

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

>>>(wise words from ahduck)<<<

You may need to turn a quarter of second later than now =D, like your salom, turn a little too early, strike the cones with rear crash bar. Immediate Failure!

yah...those crashbars are scary...always gotta give some allowance for them.

3 cones, 4 cones, 5 cones, it doesn't matter. as long as its a slalom its the same technique. if it isn't a slalom then you need to be more specific about your question because SSDC curriculum is, obviously, different from BBDC. you need to rephrase your question, or ask it within the BBDC forum, to get a better answer.

Finally passed my Lesson 3 Part 2 today. Cleared the circuit test route without much trouble as I had already memorized the route and where to do safety checks beforehand. Instructor took note of that and did say my safety checks were quite comprehensive! :D

Hopefully I get to pass my Lesson 4 on Saturday and apply for my PDL straightaway!

Just follow instructions, words from instructors are good because they are experienced with students of all skill level.

Don't get too tensed up at the prospect of repeating lessons. Riding is a skill which need to be gained over correct practices.

Generally, just have a good rest prior, hydrate yourself so you feel more alert and receptive.

Prepare to wait 5-6 weeks. Plenty of time to get bored. Same for retaking, but have to book a Road Revision compulsory anytime within the waiting time.
