wah, night lessons are ex...

The peak hour lessons are only about $2 more than off peak, right?

I finally get access to post on these boards :D So happy. I'm planning to take Class 2B at SSDC.... Can I ask a noob question?

According to TP website, it is stated that one needs to pass Part 1 Circuit Assessment before taking RTT. On SSDC website, there is no explicit statement on this. I was hoping to clear RTT before starting practicals leh. Is that possible?

Wah, so jiatlat ah? I was hoping to see the new SSDC to be something like fresh, clean and shiny, but after hearing your stories, it seems like it's in a mess!

Hear only the bad stuff and not the good stuff?

Just because of some harmless comments, u say that it's in a Mess?

And by saying it's a mess, it becomes a harmful word and scares people from learning at SSDC. Continue reading below, and i'll explain the good stuff abt this circuit.

U can still clear ur RTT before starting ur practicals. U may also do it at the same time. Before u can go for practical lesson 5, u have to pass ur RTT and pass ur practical lesson in order to apply for ur PDL.

Review about the lessons at SSDC Woodlands,

Due to the layout of the circuit courses(nearer to each other), it is easier to pass ur lessons compared to the old School. Why pass easier? Less waiting time behind cars, and more practices in a lesson. I think u'll do the narrow plank so often that u can get sick of it. LOL. It's more beneficial for students in this way. A student has also commented to me that its better. Can practice more.

Class 2B

Lesson 1, has a bigger mini circuit. Easier to practice 2nd gear shifting and stopping procedures. The last part of Lesson 1, we'll teach the slope procedures to prepare u for Lesson 2.

Lesson 2, hopefully slope will be easy to perform, so that more time at narrow plank and pylon slalom course practice.

After completing the Narrow plank and pylon course, u dont need to ride 1 big round, around the circuit, u will learn a simple U-turn back to the start of the narrow plank. Saves time. More time to practice. :thumb:

Lesson 3 I, Emergency Brake area has a better surface. U will stop better. :thumb:

On the 3rd floor, the Figure 8 & Crank course is beside each other, and no cars blocking ur way. No trees to collide into... haha.

Lesson 3 II Test Route may seem complicating at 1st. It's easy to remember. I've been teaching this for a week and so far no problems by the students.

Lesson 4 Assessment. Remains as usual.

Lesson 5 General Riding(Road), the Woodlands area have more U-turns to practice, and a nice place to ride too. Not much heavy traffic. We don't ride that very far, so we can practice more right turns & U-turns. (So Far, when i took this lesson, i haven't fail anyone)

Lesson 6 Test Route(Road) OH MY ! It's a lot easier compared to the 1 at AMK. MY Road Revisions students are my proof to testify.

Lesson 7 Overall Assessment. As Usual.

There may be some 'hiccups' in some procedures, not only to students but to us instructors as well, but its still a nice place to be in. Surprisingly, during the last weekend, i actually miss my work. LOL!

Anyway, for those having lessons there, please bear with any problems u're facing, as everyone is doing their part to make SSDC a better place.

It's an honour to work and to learn at SSDC's mulit story driving circuit.

Please spread the good news around to your friends.

Oh ya, in case some of u don't know, shuttle bus can be taken at Admiralty MRT Station. :thumb:

Wow!! Thanks for the very detailed post. I will clear the RTT first before starting practicals, don't want to end up like someone I know, stuck on FTT and cannot book Class 3 TP Test.

I'm not all that concerned about going through lessons fast.. cos I know I'm not that fast on the uptake in the first place :D so I don't mind spending more time on lessons. Having more time for practice is always good though.

I"m trying to get my colleague to take Class 2B at SSDC as well by telling him that he needs to attend DRC before being allowed to ride into work and if he takes DRC at SSDC, he won't have to pay out of his own pocket cos the workplace will pay for it on the backend *I'm devious*.

I think when I enrol for Class 2B I'll be wondering who you are lol.

BTW I'm going to suggest to SSDC to please place water coolers on EVERY FLOOR!!! Right now they only have one on the third floor (must be bring over from Yio Chu Kang one). I was dying of thirst on the first floor and NO WATER!!!

Otherwise the circuit was quite good. What Corse said was true - you practice narrow plank until you sick of it. My hand was really aching like mad from the hydraulic clutch that I had to rest.

Anyway, seems that some part of SSDC is still at Yio Chu Kang (e.g. test). I think by next month everything will be moved over to Woodlands liao.

Yeah there are still quite a few cars in Ang Mo Kio, though the numbers going around seems to be decreasing. I have seen a few cars zipping around with only the instructor inside. Not sure why though. I also saw one lonely car parked at the SSDC AMK branch tonight.

As long as your other courses are fine, instructor will pass you. But you MUST be able to lift the bike for the TP test otherwise you fail.

I passed my Lesson 1 and the instructor told me to practise lifting the bike during my revision.

For the month of March, CR will be conducted at ground floor.

But when April comes, TP testing will commence during 8.25am till 4.30pm.

So during these timing, u may not be allowed to practice on the ground floor, unless during weekdays, at the 5.55pm & 8.10 lesson, Saturdays after 1.05pm lesson and Sundays is whole day.

Yup, U can request if u wish to practice.

Lutein, there are a few ways to lift a motorcycle, difficult to explain to u here, but I don't mind showing u some ways if we ever meet. :thumb:

hmm, in this case, is the layout of the circuit on different lvls similar to one another?

e.g: if lvl 3 circuit layout is different from lvl 1, how is a person able to practice properly to prepare for tp? it's like going thru a different route for practice while tp route is different cos it's held on the 1st lvl.

pls help clarify my doubts. thanks.

o.O Sounds like some divine revelation kinda thing :cheeky:

There are still students having revision for their test in AMK for the month of March. If u see only the instructor, most probably is because, the student reported at AMK, but no car, so someone from Woodlands have to drive down to AMK.

I was wondering if that was the case but I thought that it would be quite sad for the instructors to drive all the way back to Woodlands everyday especially after the last lesson of the day. By the time they knock off will be so late already.... Seriously is go home sleep and then go back to work again. :dozed:

Just received my course refund from SSDC via cheque so probably will soon have enough money to start 2B lol.
