Usually, it is better do service your bike before the trip. You don't want your bike to give you problem during your trip, do you? Let your mechanic know that you are planning for a trip so that your mechanic can do a more thorough check.

By the way, where are you heading to for your trip?

@SV650 haha i think he meant by plane no bike

To ts, Because this is the tropics, i would just disconnect the battery and service after i return. Dont think it'll really matter though.

Thanks guys for the responses. Yes i am leaving on a jetplane~ leaving bike behind. So i should remove the ground of the battery? I have an alarm so disable the alarm as well? Only one says service before the trip. But many says after. Whats the reason?

I would do the following:-

1) Fill my petrol tank to the brim with the lowest grade petrol you can find in Singapore. (To prevent the tank from rusting)

2) Park my bike in a nice well lit spot.

3) Turn the fuel c0ck to the 'Off' position.

4) Disconnect the battery.

5) Wipe the bike dry and out some oil on the parts where you think will rust.

6) Cover the bike.

Yes. YOu should disable the alarm because it drains your battery. if you ever need a battery charger, i could help you. cheers.

U should prolly check ur service manual bro.

According to mine, if u are not going to use the bike for long periods of time, u should disconnect the battery, change eo, oil parts that subject to rust and park in a well ventilated area. When ur back, connect ur batteries and change eo again.

Iirc, thats how it's done according to the manual.

Depends how long you're gonna go on that overseas trip, if like very long, 6 months plus then after, service before also no use, the bike won't be used and your ambient wear and tear takes place anyway.
