thanks ! then do you know how to begin and slowly get known so people will wanna sponsor you? lets say even if you are damn good, is it possible to have a career in it? (as a singaporean)

my honest opinion? highly unlikely. the only possible scenario I can foresee is a young kid taking part in the MSS, winning it by a mile, then advancing to the regional championships like asia pac and winning that by a mile. then hopefully someone will take notice and bring him to motogp. but then again, which young kid will have the funds to go racing? and even if that young kid is born with a silver spoon, you think his parents will let him go bike racing?

in malaysia still got chance, like that boy in the 125cc championship. but he was groomed since day one, never study, learn to ride before he can walk kinda stuff.

still, if you're ambitious and rich you can take the path casey stoner took. his parents took him to spain when he was young and they practically became nomads travelling here and there in a van taking part in local races. but they were lucky. stoner had talent. he won everything he laid his hands on and he got noticed.

so i think for a sporean to be in motogp, all the stars have to be aligned for that to happen. u need money, luck, immense talent etc. but considering how the top talents in 'approved' sports like soccer, ping pong, swimming run into so many red tape, what more so bike racing, which is a sport most ppl hate?

Never. By the time you get the recognition you will be old and there are better and more exposed younger riders from other countries. At most you will just be a local sponsored rider not known to many. Our tiny country does not really encourage sports as a career. Races you will be participating would be the MSS. Still doubt you can make it a career. But please do prove me wrong.

yea.. but i know its hard and alot will be telling me its not possible and ask me suck thumb lololol.

hehe!

Don't let others bring down your dream. If its what you dream of and what you really want, go for it. Be the first. Don't stop just because others tell you its impossible. But of cuz, do your research and work really hard.

Definitely hard in Singapore cuz we don't even have a track to begin with. Race teams for bikes? Never heard of. Cars maybe but not that famous though. Not impossible :) You can be like many local artistes getting local experience, going overseas to reach further and get sponsered or a contract.

Good luck!

P.s. I have no experience or knowledge at all in racing, but I want to try. :)

Not worth it here la, Singapore will just import from Italy or China anyway.

True, I think its a high chance that even though you make it, you represent yourself... :S Create your own flag etc. bleh.

i guess if you are talented , you have a chance at your dream. get a used 600, if you can do very well at PG, or work towards it, thats a start for you without burning too much money.

if you are not even in the best 10 timing in PG , then better face the fact

dun bother lah, in spore better to be a doctor/lawyer/banker/business man/engineering than to be a sportsman. :)

hahaha thats the mind set of many sgreans thats why we never excel in sports... no offence, but its always the case. you look at schumacer or how u spell his name.. he started go karting at only3... in SG u go kart at 3, means either ur parents are kinda loaded or your dad sells go kart... and if ur parents are rich, will they want you to be a pro go karter? chances are they wan u to be banker, lawyer, doctor and the best of all, prime minister. haha. so i guess its kinda hard..

unless u are older and u have income then u can pursuit this dream using ur cash. haha

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng

Like xiaoviper and ImahSundal said, chase your dreams. Be positive. BUT at the same time must also be realistic,

like what D.O.C shared above, see where you stand against the better racers.

S’porean teen the next Lewis Hamilton?

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/fit-to-post-sports/porean-teen-next-lewis-hamilton-113354187.html

One reader commented on yahoo that the 2 years NS will affect his progress. So true.

:goodluck:

2 years NS affects so much in life, simply because 2 years is a long time. Plus 2 years of almost irrelevant experience in almost everything you are going to do later in life and 2 years lack of practice in whatever you are doing professionally.

and of course, it takes time and practice. Don't give up after a few tries, if you see yourself improving, keep going for it :) When you think you've reached the limit, try to break the limit. Worse come to worse, you got a personal achievement and can compete in local races etc...
