Hi Guys,

recently i just bought a brand new Honda Vt400S cruiser. But to conduct running in process for my bike seems to draw a blank to me.

I need some advice here. I did not open throttle for more than 1/4 and due to work, i had to travel quite a bit on expressway. Now i had accumulated more than 330Km. Some questions for the floor,

Do i need to change mineral oil at 500km?

How do i optimize running in process for a 400CC cruiser?

Sorry, i been riding a scrambler for quite some time....not use to cruiser type.

u can always be abit kiasu and change at 500km.. ur engine will thank you for it.. if u ask 10 ppl hw to run-in, 10 different recommendations come out.. seriously..

so basic rule is just keep it gentle, and once in awhile throttle abit hard.. this will help to seal d rings.. and dun stay at d same RPM for extended periods.. change gears once in a while.. ur new gearbox oso nd to mesh together n run in... n of cux no wide-open throttle lar.. change ur EO diligently up to about 1500km or 2000km, then shud be done... :)

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

generally is to keep the revs low, but not to stay in one speed too long.

follow your manual, if it says to keep the revs below 6k rpm, then just keep it below 6k rpm. and you can chagne mineral oil early, no worries on that part. once break in is over, probably switch to semi syn then fully syn.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)
