It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

late at night i go 'excursion' round island the expressways alternating between cruising at 6th gear ~4000rpm (about 100kmh) and 4th gear ~8000rpm (also about 100kmh).

fren of mine who bought a brand new gsx6 few months back insisted i shd cruise at about the 7k rpm range to run-in the pistons. whether this is called normal run-in or hard run-in i dun quite know. my attitude is when in doubt, listen to the manual; and the manual onli says not to perform full throttle starts or hard accelerations during the first 500km. fair enuff.

besides, i feel very strongly that i shd get myself used to the bike over the next few weeks, or even months if necessary. i been riding ta150 for the past 4 years, and nothing else, not even 2a. this is my first ever big bike. i have not yet hit beyond 10k rpm in any gear. reason 1 coz i not yet used to bike with such broad rpm range and worried the power and engine brake if i hit that range plus any gear that rpm range hits illegal speeds (

:thumb: :cheeky: ); and reason 2 coz running in of coz.

izzit alright to follow the manual's maintainance schedule of EO and filter change @ 1k mileage followed by every 12k mileage? sounds very seldom. i plan change EO and filter @ 1k, then 2nd change of both @ 5k, 3rd @ 10k and thereafter every 10k. i got coupons for Mah stating 1k, 3k and 6k and i believe most ppl new bikes follow this pattern, but the manual doesn state need to do it this way. and that coupon is crap because free labour onli, doesn include the EO and filter, so i think i go HKL oso more worth it. shd i get receipt from HKL to prove i performed EO change for warranty issues?

hey thanx.

it just so happened on fri i parked my bike beside a yellow '04 cbr6rr at bt panjang plaza and had the opportunity to admire a more 'veteran' bike with aftermarket exhausts and motovation sliders. yeah i like how those sliders appear generously long.

for me i'll need to have mine installed at a shop for drilling, so dun think i'll be buying the sliders on their own. thanx for the heads-up.
