Iz it your gut feel or the temperature gauge on your bike? Anyway for Engine Ice, you are juz paying extra for Anti-Freeze which you will never use in sunny Singapore, unless Singapore starts to snow heavily. Do check for a few days to see if there is any difference. I did read from a forum a few years ago that it actually increases the engine's temperature and lowers the coolant temp by a bit. That is why the bike will perform better as it is hotter. Pros and cons here, depending on your bike's usage.

Maybe useful during wet rainning day instead of snow. Haha! Err but hotter engine means pushing it to its limitation? Isn't this bad for the life spend?

because the coolant is able to absorb heat faster, hence u feel hotter air blowing at your leg.

Brother! You very cute yeah, you reply here instead of sms text. How's your decision going? Anyway the engine seems to boil up higher temp during traffic junction stop.

read around saying that engine ice indeed is more of an anti-freeze, which we actually don't need... those ang mohs staying in super hot desert towns just run with distilled water + water wetter.. the water wetter is to increase the water's cooling efficiency and lubricate ur water pump and seals... and temperatures drop more as compared to engine ice..

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

Thanks for the information. What coolant would be most recommend?

Rainy days also does not come close to what the anti-freeze solution, maybe if hail storm...heheheh. Yups pushing the engine to its limit will improve performance but kills the engine faster. Not a prob for those being sponsored in races hehehhe.

What coolant do you suggest then?

Juz get normal coolant will do. Some even using coolant bought from Giant Supermarket. No point getting those with anti-freeze. I have been using Maxima Cool aide for years, it works so I am sticking to it. Juz make sure you change the coolant on time. Regular Maintenance is the word. I do not mean changing coolants every month, but juz stick to the recommended manufacturer's recommendation. The bike should serve you well.

In the end it is still your money.

Was hoping for some coolant to cool the engine instead of bringing it to the limit.

just change my maxima cool aide after 1year. i find some organic growth in the coolant. most likely came from reservoir. i wonder is it the 3% concentration is not enough to prevent those nasty stuffs from growing?

your engine is design to run at certain temperature. unless you are seeing the engine overheating or the radiator fan keep starting, it will be just fine.

Posted
any coolant without silicate suitable for aluminium will do just fine.

Meaning to say I can stick to engine ice for coolant since it does have such substances? Am I right to say so? Plan to change during the next servicing.

I read that too, but it seems that my engine is hotter than it usually was after changing to engine ice.

yes. it totally fine.

i not sure how did you tell that your engine is running hotter. if you are not using any temperature guage to measure, i will say just don't worry about it. run it with confidence. sometime the "mind eye" is pretty off.

all coolant performance is pretty much the same in term of removing heat. your bike won't be able to tell the different with just plus minus a few degree. don't have to sweat over the details as long as everything is working fine. save your money and enjoy the ride.

It was my brother who notice it first. Always fetch him back from camp and then this fine day he told me he notice my engine seems hooter than usual. We travel the same road away, so I thought maybe was the coolant which I change just recently.

Some forums I visit did say something about engine run hotter. One of the forum did say air got trap in the system.

"I contacted cycle logic the manufacturer of engine ice about the problem. They told me what I already knew from the auto industry that it isnt meant to be mixed with ethylene glycol based antifreeze because it is propylene glycol based. They recommended that I flush the system with water and distilled white vinegar and then fill it with engine ice. I also had the radiator cap off today to see if I had a trapped air bubble. After taking the cap off and running the bike it pulled some fluid out of the overflow and straightened up. So the main reason for the higher temps and fluctuation was a trapped air pocket like I suspected. However, it is worth noting to read the instructions before adding engine ice to your bike because if enough regular antifreeze residue in your system when you add the engine ice you can cause it to gel in the cooling system causing serious problems. Redline's product supercool with water wetter in it is meant to be used and is compatible with all types of antifreezes. Supercool is different than straight water wetter as it has other ingredients as well. Supercool is made more for street applications than the water wetter is but it still requires antifreeze to be added if you are going to encounter temps below freezing. Whereas the engine ice is meant as a direct replacement for the coolant and has freeze protection. Engine ice is also meant to be used undiluted whereas supercool and water wetter are just additives. I hope this info is useful for anyone else looking into using one of these products,"

oh. that might be the problem. i only heard of those long life coolant and water wetter gel up. something new for engine ice. maybe for peace of mind, TS can just flush his system again. just get some normal coolant suitable for bike will do.

if it does not gel up, i am not too worry about trapped air. air will be able to escape from the system in fairly short time. those tiny bubble will not make much of a different and should be out in a few days.
