Usually, i just dip in very lightly soapy water (dynamo).

Then rinse in clean water... Do not soak or wring it dry..

Just let it drip dry then air dry.. avoid hot sun for drying as the material may crack.

But depends on the material too. some may start to harden and crack much faster then others...

My X-Lite raincoat last many years with this care but the pants seam damn lousy... When heavy rain, my whole body dry except for my crotch...o_O

Its not about hard you can hit, its about how many times you can take a hit and remain standing

I used to encounter the same problem on the pants crotch area.My previous one was a Arai raincoat.

rain coats..some may have a wax coating...when this wax coating is worn out or dissappear then no longer water proof...so avoid strong soap...

this is what i do,,

rinse in clean water...drip dry in shaded area...spray disinfectant to remove smell..

a 5 min.. in the sun may do the trick..

the idea is to dry it thoroughly...as bacterial thrives in wet areas ...

what ck?

my raintcoat still smell ok la, my gloves on the other hand......puuuuuuuuuu.

thats what happens when you get caught in rain too often. i flipped the glove inside out, soaked it with no soap then air dry, smelt fine. but after a short rain, the smell is back but not that strong.
