For those riders wearing spectacles, how do you guys wear your helmet?

Usually i would take off specs, wear helmet, slot in the specs. You guys same?

after doing this for 7 months, i'm quite lazy about that, wondering if you guys got any tips regarding this issue.

wanted to get contact lenses, but my astig is very high, and lens's price for high astig is quite expensive... been thinking about wearing open face helmets, for the convenience, but still prefer FF for the safety of my fat chin leh...

How should i make it more convenient?

a few seconds of inconvenience wen wearing FF is nothing compare to the risk u r taking wen wearing an open face bro... personally, started wearing contacts since i started riding (n wearing FF). more comfortable n convenient IMO...

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

mine worse!! i can't even insert my specs after i put on the FF and flip up the visor..same problem as TS about the degree..close to a thousand each eye..and i can't afford contacts..does flip up FF really helps? but some says it works similarly to a open face when a accident happens..[touchwood]

its common to remove specs when wear FF... no choice.. my specs still quite flexi, the frame is half plastic half metal.. but when insert the specs into FF, the specs will bend slightly.. so for me, when wear FF wif specs, the view is slightly affect due to the tight FF cushion.. i onli scare one day the specs bend till the lens fly out cannot put back as mine is half frame

hahas..mine full titanium..really scared to bend the frame for a short while and can't get it back..i know it's nothing compared to my safety..but then..hahas..so hoping to get a flip up as mentioned by another forumer up there..:)

titanium is quite strong.. personally think the helmet will not bend it since its the cushion pushing it... ya...a flip up wont require u to take off specs

take le still cannot put in tats the trouble..

yea ever thought of lasik but then they say, lasik for such high degree, cannot correct back to zero in case of error they would leave it at 50 or 100..still need spec!! or later 1 crazy modded wrz zoom behind me i mis read the area left..

will bend..cause the frame isn't as thick as a tennis racket..hahas..anyway thanks ya!

I've been wearing the same specs with FF for three years, no bending. maybe you can get a cheap pair of normal thin frame specs for riding and wear the titanium one at other times.

Posted

Cheap pair of flexible frame specs (read, plastic), straight-ish arms (The part that goes around your ear). Second pair of stylo mylo regular glasses for when you get off the bike. Settled.

hahas, but because of my degree..it'll be real ex for another pair..but thanks lots ya!

your best bet would be a shoei, have been wearing them since bmx days..

shoei helmets cater to riders with prescription glasses, shoei helmets have slots for specs!

see post on the inner liner and you'll know what i mean

hahas, and how much would it cost roughly?

lols, i am ts but bro velocity looks more like TS =X

anyway, i'm wearing a half framed specs as well, but plastic one, slotting of the specs isn't an issue to me, just the hassle.

seems like going for contact/lasik will be my best bet to avoid the hassles...

i've the perception that modular/flip up helmets are more heavy, is that the real case? also heard about the flip up part giving way during accident, thus i rather wear a cheapo HJC helmet =)

btw, regarding open face helmets, which shops carry stocks for size XXL? i'm wearing a HJC CL-ST size XL, fits fine, bought a Evo II XL (i thought open face should be more 'spacious' compared to FF), but it seems real tight on a few places. Wanna buy a open face for use during class 2A and 2.

I'm dun know if anyone realized this but different type of specs have different results when wearing helmet.

For example - specs with a curved end is easier to put on than specs with a straight end. Though this difference isn't shown with my full face, it did clear shown on my open face.

Curved-end

Straight-end

If you want lesser problem I suggest you can try out a curved-end specs.

ahahahs..

heys bro, if you're getting headache with your helmet after a period of time, what a shop owner told me was to get a size bigger or with lesser cushion or softer cushion as that wasnt the right size..i've just got a flip up full face..kinda good, no problems..finish "running in" the cushion already..just worried if accident[touchwood], would the flip up mechanism give way..ooooooo!!

for daily riding, i have no issues with my FF.

Just wanna get a open face for 2A and subsequently cl 2. just for during the lesson.

and ya, i know that if i get headache, that helm is too small for me, but that is already XL in size, thus asking bros here whether there's any shop which have stock for XXL size... but seems like nobody knows, or ppl who know is not sharing..

Regarding helmet that causes headaches, sometimes it's the shape of the inner shell problem.

To find out whether the shape suits you, try wearing the helmet and press it towards your head. If you feel any tight spots or pain when you does this, take note - that area might not cause pain when immediately, but after wearing for a longer period the pain might start kicking in.

If you feel pain, my advice is skip this helmet immediately and go either for the next shell size or next model. Do note that I'm talking about shell size, not helmet size.

Posted

yea agreed..but if straight wear straight pain, that means too small maybe a bigger size would help..normally full face, chin guard shouldn't be too far from chin or it'll defeats the purpose of it and cause more harm during accident..
