Update - Passed the test ! Its amazing how low the number of people who pass, makes me wonder if something is wrong with the way its taught. Anyway, now I need to decide on a bike to buy !

Posted

no surprises.

increased numbers of death from bikers, means that 2b test requirement is much more stringent.

last time passing rate was 80 percent drop to 50 percent.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

funny thing is, how often does bikers die from self-skid or of self-langgar? most often its due to other road users, more specifically, drivers, whom lack attention or are on the phone while driving. so far from what i see, they did not make driving tests harder. taxi drivers i can honestly say are a BIG source of problems... with their sudden stops, split second lane changes, illegal uturns at the darndest times, and most often, i find them just inconsiderate. many times, they'll be cruising happily along, and when they see a bike lane-splitting, they'll magically drift near the line. effectively blocking the bike. not to mention those ive heard, that purposely on their wipers to spray water at bikers

I was talking to a guy who recently passed his car license ( who also has a bike license ) and he said the car license was incredibly easy to obtain. Its a shame they don't make that car license harder and teach drivers to be more aware of whats going on around them. Singapore drivers are amongst the worst I have ever seen !

Well,no offence to malaysians but i personally dont think Singaporean drivers are that bad. Try riding/driving in malaysia especially in JB and the north south highway. Compare the malaysian drivers and riders to Singaporeans. Trust me, you will agree with me that drivers here tend to have some for of good driving etiquettes. Singaporeans may tend to be impatient, but im certain that most of us here that hold a driving license is aware of the law and aware of safety. We aint tht reckless.its rare to see Singaporean riders popping a wheelie on the highway or standing on the bike while riding on the highway.

CSV...least CDC passing rate is 50 percent..which is ard 25/50....in SSDC its 11/50!!! am tinking to quit ssdc & enol CDC...do i need to start frm zero??

@mmmitchhh

nah, don't do it. take the statistics with a pinch of salt. as you go on learning, you will realize at the end of the day it boils down to your individual skills as well as a bit of luck.

hello fried rice,

thank you for your comments. the following was wat i posted on another tread stating the reasons i feel like changing school.

Good day all,

i am wondering what are the passing rates in CDC?? i am actually taking my bike lessons at SSDC, however, the passing rates for the TP test made me feel like giving up. out of 50 only 11 passed. i am perfectly fine should i know that i am not cut up to pass. it was my 3rd TP today and another FAIL!!! but my instructors that have watched me ride said i should have pass and that they explained the TPs are intentionally failing ppl in order to ease traffic conditions & accident rates. i feel its very unfair to fail ppl who are capable juz becoz of those reasons. the TPs even come in the waiting rm can scolded people who did not wear their number tags well or wearing the elbow/knee guards. wat if ur're the last rider?? those caught were asked to go home, being barred from test tt dae.

i am curious if it is likewise at other centers?? as i am considering to re-enroll at other centers if tests are being carried out in a fair manner. do i need to re-take all the lessons at that center as i am actually ready to take TPs? or can i just enrol there, learn the circuit & test route??

can any kind soul pls advise or help??

**to add on, even the instructors there are encouraging the students to write in and "complain"...

regards,

mitch

yes, if you re-enroll in another driving centre, you will need to retake all the lessons. you will spend additional money on enrollment fee, time and effort to get used to a new model of bike and surroundings.

actually even if you re-enroll at another driving centre, the way the test is carried out at another driving centre will still be the same. moreover, i think there is a high chance of you seeing the same testers from the previous driving centre.

it has become harder to pass the test nowadays as compared to the past. i think you really need to be patient, accept it and soon you will get your license.

If e TPs r deemed to b rude my advise go ahead n complain, best if got sum1 video e scolding part... Most important shud know where to channel e complain so that it will be looked into n not ignored.. Best is to sent to several powerful top pple :) .. With e video as evidence, it speaks louder than words :) ...

To those fella rider wannabe, b patient aite.. Juz a few tips to share when i take my riding class from 2B to 2.. When i go to e centre for lesson/tp test, i wore long sleeve t-shirt (not black color) n jeans.. Wear their infamous sponsored helmets n try to look as decent as possible.. Those with tatoos, try to cover it.. Avoid wearing assorted accesories coz u want give a good impression to e testers/instructors n listeb to every command/instruction attentively even though u tend to disagree to wat was being said.. Nvr ever argue - u go there to learn... N most important rule, dun b a smart alec, at e end of e day, u r at their mercy :) ... Passed all my lesson n TP tests at 1 try each... :)

Fyi, even when i rode my bike there to take my class 2A n 2, i still wear e sponsored helmet :)

I am not too sure if it's a thing with CDC alone. During my final lessson i was told that i failed coz i didn't switch on headlight..no one told me that during the initial lessons. Another one, didn't chcek blind spot at the slope. Again no one told me that during the lessons. that's two lessons gone to waste, for details not told on the initial lessons. I went for circuit revision, and there was a nice instructor who agreed to watch me for a short while. he identified that there were atleast 6 things i was doing wrong, and to my surprise none of them were explained in the lessons. Hope there are no more surprises on test day.

i took over 10 times to get my licenses, i still keep the accessment slips, booklets, PDLs.

Its to remind myself how hard i took to get my licenses and to cherish them.

My first & last attempt for Cls2 TP, i am so careful, safety and skillful resulting the testers have no reason to fail me:angel:

When I took my 2B, at the start of each lesson, the instructor will ask who is first time taking the lesson. For first-timers, they will be properly taught on what to do and lookout for (for e.g. when to signal, position to check check blindspots when turning etc). All these are not just taught one time because if you're there for the second (or more) times, you can opt to go practise or remain behind to listen to the theory part again.
