To start off, I'm a paramedic. My job allows me to be at places many people wouldn't get to, see things people don't usually get to see, experience things that laymen don't get to. Many singaporeans do die from heart attacks but one thing that I definitely hate to do is attending to RTAs(Road Traffic Accident)s that involve riders, our brothers and sisters. I'm a rider/driver myself who had experienced a few accidents, all of which I'm not at fault except for once, I skidded on my bike. The last accident, I broke my wrist, my femur and a facial bone. I was barred from riding by my parents as they fear for me. But right after a year of rest, my parents reluctantly allowed me to go back onto the road. All they ask is that I'm to don on a full riding gear everytime when I ride. I agreed. So I got myself an armour jacket, full face helmet and of coz, an R6. My mom dragged me to temples and many places of worship to seek protection for myself (I'm a catholic). Every single time when I ride out, she would stay up, wait for me to get back before she sleeps peacefully. She brought the most expensive accident insurance for me coz she wanted the best equipments and treatment for me should I get involved in an accident. She's the best mom in the World. Now, back to my job, like I've said, I hate attending to our own riders who fallen. Simply because when I reach the scene, and when I determine that he/she cannot be resuscitate or really obvious death, my next action is to put up the ECG lead to pronouce the rider dead. I never once put up the ECG leads myself but gave instructions to my colleague who often help me do so coz my heart sinks everytime when I attend to RTAs, DOA(Death On Arrival). I thought about how the casualty's family would react, how they love their child, their spouse or parents. I picture myself as the DOA casualty and wonder how my mom would be like. She often told me, if I were to get into a serious accident, she would prefer me to die then be paralyze. Then I thought about how selfish I was to pursue my passion for riding in the expenses of my parents happiness. Many accidents that caused the lives of our fallen brothers/sisters caused our family and friends lots of misery. So to end off my little story here, ride safe. If we live to ride, ride safe, be safe. The road ain't a playground. If you're ever mad at a larger vehicle that cut you abruptly, just cool down, don't let your anger take control of you. Coz you know you're at a losing end.

And just for the record, I've pronounced a total of 8 riders on the road in 3years. Some may call me the grim reaper..

awww cheer up bro..yea..sometimes we know that, oh! later i've to work..now i wanna bike for a while..who knows what'll happen next..sometimes when we bikers are careful, cagers anyhow cut..some people say make it a must for people to get 2a before they can get class 3..but does that really matters..if one is reckless, they'll still be what they are..just hope that everyone can get to read your post and really understand why public and private transport are there..if only everyone has a heart, to be gracious on the road, to be more forgiving..sometimes we might be slow on the road but has the cagger thought why..no..they just flash at us, sometimes horn or even go by us causing a close accident..sometimes some might be in a rush but that also doesn't gives us the right to cut zig zag..dam..that's life..

Bro, what is a difference between a paramedic and a medic? What does the para stand for?

So far when riding, I noticed its other vehicles who did not pay attention, I can understand, they got stereo, blindspots and most cagers are well plain unattentive thinking only 4 wheelers exist on the road. Being a lil aggressive on the road sometimes helps.

Hi, a paramedic in SCDF is a regular, team leader, vehicle commander. usually recognized by the star of life badge. A medic in SCDF is a NSF or civilian volunteer. The assistance of a paramedic, second in command. Recognized by it's first aid cross badge. If you ask me about the "para"-medic meaning, I always tell people, paramedic= pair of medic. :p

Hmmm. I don't just mean car VS bike accidents. There are times when we skid too. Like myself. It's just a matter of how bad it is..

Anyway, just for the sake of a good laugh, take a look below. Apparently that guy is one of the atypical drivers who love to rant alot about other road users. And he does seem to like writing in to ST.

Actually I agree with that guy.

On a narrow road like that, cyclists shouldn't take up the entire lane and block traffic completely. Imagine you're riding or driving behind them on that road and have to keep behind their them while their leisurely asses are pedalling at a pathetic 20kph.

Sharing the roads, yes. But the cyclists there are the selfish ones taking up the entire lane and hogging traffic behind knowing full well that it's a fuccking double-white line, no overtake situation for motorists behind them.

So IMO, frak 'em if some angry aggressive driver or biker decides to cut in close and cause them to fall over in panic.

yea..i only met a few kind souls and cagers compared to those aggressive ones..sometimes it's really kinda sad to see the cagger overtaking you at a much more higher speed and crash into something..people out there with no heart shouldn't be on the road..because one rash decision might led to a chain of **** behind..hais, don't know to feel sad for them or to laugh..
