As riders, we seen many drivers driving and talking on phone with the other hand.

My qn is if we manage to record a video, with licence plate number, while riding (holding phone on left hand and riding near driver side) of that errant driver, will TP accept our video and prosecute that driver? Or are we liable as well?

You better not be using HP to video him/her! Hahaha!

TP too many cases to prosecute the driver, unless you can also show that the driver endangered yourself or someone else while using HP.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

wa ts wanna start war with the drivers ah ??

like that u must mount your video camera on your helmet right ?

while car is mounted in side ... to also capture our errant behaviour.. eg number plate facing the sky, tinted visor, smoky 2t pipe

and finally lets say all start sending video , i pity the person who is working behind it ..

he has to view thousand and one videos and start sending out letters

if TP doesnt do anything about it, it can be implied that they approve of such behavior (even with photo/video evidence of drivers with mobile devices in their hands or beside their ears).

Yesterday, while waiting at the traffic light in a car, I saw the driver of a car on my right talking on his mobile phone (left hand holding the phone). Then, there’s a police car stopped on my left…

So I was a bit guai lan and wanted to see how the Polis Singapura handle such scenario, I tapped my horn to get Ah Sir’s attention, reverse my car a bit and pointed him to the driver of the car on my right who was still talking on the phone.

Ah Sir looked at the driver and look at me again with a blur face, a couple of seconds later the lights turned green and 3 of us left the junction like nothing happened.

Stationary, waiting for green light and drove away without putting down the phone. The guy turned right, me and Ah Sir go straight.

To constitute an offence, it must satisfy all three criteria :

- Driver holding the phone

- Driver is in communication

- Car must be moving.

Ah Sir was right in this case as the car was stationary so no offence committed.

I agree Ah Sir was right at that moment.

I got a feeling they are no longer "on the ball" hunting down the use of mobile phone whilst driving like 10 years ago

Yeah. It also have been clarified that riders can also SMS or use their phones while waiting for the traffic light and not hindering others when it is time to move off.

i believe you only need these two points. holding a handset while driving, if i remember, was disallowed as well. thats why they stipulated that even if drivers wanted to use their handsets for GPS navigation, they needed to mount it on a holder and not holding it.
