Rent a friend's bike or buy my own bike?

I ride my friend's bike for a year, installment and maintenance all under me. Good thing is I don't burden myself if it becomes a burden, bad thing is I don't get a share of resale value. Bike is almost brand new, 8k mileage.

OR

I buy my own bike, overall it will be more expensive, I'll have to burden myself if I am to COI no matter what but I can sell or trade it in after I break even.

If I am to buy, it would an older bike with renewed COE.

I need your inputs. Help me please.

what's the installment per month?

if it is in the 100+ range, it'd still do-able.

$120 * 15 months = $1800 (15 months till you get your 2A)

Insurance = $800 - $1000 (if you can hop onto your friend's premium which is still available, this will slightly reduce your cost by topping up only)

Misc Paperwork = $200

Give or take $3000 -/+

You get back nothing $0 at the end of 1st year.

if you are upgrading after a year, riding your friend bike will be a better choice.

but, you can always buy a 2nd hand cheap kupkia and sell it off after. you will lose lesser in the depreciation value.

2nd Hand Wave $2000

Insurance = $800 - $1000

Misc = $200

Give or Take $3000 -/+ (not taking into considering of agreement fee/misc fee/ interest etc)

After 1st year, you try to sell at $1000-$1500, there should be a taker.

You still can get back $1000-$1500 back.

But it's a 2nd hand bike, tend to have problems although kup maintenance are pretty cheap.

$1500 more for a new bike for 1 year. your choice.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Which is not always true.

Sorry la if I never give enough details, friend's bike is a Revo with 8k mileage so don't have to think much about the crap that happens with old bikes, installment 330 every month. If I use for one year, I'd break even already because owner has downpayment a large percentage of the OTR price.

Comparing with lets say Spec 1 renewed COE if I am to buy my own.

Oh yeah, he'd let me trade in that bike if I broke even because he doesn't want the bike anymore but still indebted to him la.

So yeah, comparison of trade in value and overall expenditure for that one year. All this if everything swee, no accidents(touch wood) hurhurhur
