Its easy to initiate a powerslide..... the question is... will you be able to control it?

yes i will, but i must know how to initiate it first, then i will learn how to control it

Before turn,

rear brake

clutch in

counter steer into the turn

dump clutch

gas on

there u have it sliding into corner

try it manimani

how come motoGP ppl use so much front brake before the turn then ??

Rear brake must lock up the wheel or not ???

Why clutch in ?

Isn't it throttle hard then dump clutch meh? isn't it easier to inititate the lost of traction when you already at high rev when u dump clutch ???

Pardon me manimani, but u have no idea wat's a low side, high side.

Hmm..wat kind of riding experience do u hav? How long have u been riding? I'm just asking...

I mean you should learn to walk before u wanna run or fly. No offense but I tink u shld take it slow by learning the basic stuffs first.

sliding n powerslide are totally different thing!

Sliding in the corner due to rear wheel travelling slower than front wheel.

powerslide is coming out of corner when rear wheel is travelling faster than the front wheel!.

So if you want to learn powerslide. open gradually wide throttle and let the rear will spin! hold it there. if you close it. then that a high side! good luck breaking your natural reaction barrier!

@ manimani - Bro, there's no ez way out.. If u r prepare to fall n fork out $$ to repair ur bike, by all means go ahead n learn n execute e powerslide.. It needs lots of practise..Do it at a proper place though..

Cheers :)

whats lowslide and highslide

You must be joking, if you don't know either of these, don't mention powersliding and it does not bring your round a corner faster.

powersliding in fact could slow one down...Going fast around the track is about getting the power to the ground....sliding is a lost of traction meaning power generating by the engine is not getting to the ground efficiently...

Sliding IMO is probably good for putting you onto the line quicker sometimes on entry...but you would probably wanna balance between power delivery and the amount of slide...

Anyway, pls try such things on the track...public roads are not the place for such shenanigans

to initiate the rear to slide, ride as fast as you can, then downshift to 1st gear, and throw the clutch, rear will lock, the rest is up to you. :thumb:

+1 Most sensible answer in the thread.

Both sliding into the corner and power sliding can be learnt more safely off-road on an enduro bike. There are off-road instructors who can teach you how to do it correctly. Just make sure you wear the proper protective gear. You won't believe how easy it is to slide a 250cc enduro bike on a grass field, especially if it is a bit sandy (easily found in neighboring countries). Plus if you fall on the grass, neither you nor the bike will be very hurt and you can pick up the bike and continue practicing.

If you read up on sliding, you will find that these techniques originated from off-road and supermoto. Both Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi, who are well-known to slide their MotoGP bikes, have extensive off road racing experience before joining MotoGP.
