most imporantly get a friend who ride those to view and test for you. u'll have a big hole in your picket if u get a problematic one. to me kr and sp i pick kr although sp looks nicer. why? kr is newer, of coz don get those renewed ones, kr is faster, if u r a speed demon, kr has more room for modifications compared to sp. kr parts is widely available in singapore and across our waters at jb. sp parts hard to find in sg. downside is kr insurance super ex especiallt if u r a p plate less than 21yo. at least 1.3k...

Interesting trend. When I started riding 5yrs ago and my peers who started earlier then me, everybody chose from the 3 popular 2strokers tzm, sp and KR. Nowadays i see so many advice to shun these bikes. During our ownership, it didn't occur to me that any of these bikes where expensive to fix or mod. We all whack to a point or another that needed overhaul and it wasn't expensive. So why now everybody seem to advise against these bikes?

Yes sure everybody whack these bikes but for sure it's not expensive to fix it ain't it?

Servicing, F/C both about the same.

Size and handling, SP slightly bigger and better

Kawa insurance is much more exp... Enough to kill

P.S Have at least 1k cash in hand for replacement of parts / towing if you're considerin this 2 bikes!

Well, didn't you considered fixing everything and checking everything was within spec after getting the bike? Like doing a teardown and checking ring end gaps, compression test, big end play, stator ohms, etc.

I think if a well informed buyer does his due diligence, buying a pre-owned small capacity bike is practical and more cost effective. However for a person who is not very technically inclined and know what do look out for, buying new is probably a better choice.

You mean to say you encourage maxing out one's budget and leave no margin for error?

My point here is to b patient... Y pple go for those 2 bikes ? Simple, coz its cheap... But e running costs will b ex... So if ur budget already tight, y go for a problematic bike ?.. Isn't dat asking for trouble ?...

Buying a bike needs a proper financial plan.... Besides having $ for e downpayment, u gotta have spare cash to stand by n dat spare cash r strictly for e bike n not for anything else...

Ok lah i juz share my experience aite... As part of my mthly financial budget, i'll set aside $100 each mth n put it in my bike's "foundation"... So when e time comes for servicing, i use dat $$ n didn't touch any of my salary $ to pay for my bike's servicing.. On top of dat i got savings, juz in case my "bike foundation" not enuf $$... For my installment, everytime get bonus i pay 6 mths advance so e nxt 6 mths i got no worries bout installment but e so called $ that i suppose to pay for each mth, i'll put it aside n place it in my "bike foundation" or top up my saving.. So when my bike's birthday arrive, i'll use e "bike foundation" to pay for e insurance n road tax..

So where did i get e $ to buy e bike in e 1st place ? .. Save lah... So to ans to ur ques, everyone of us have a choice to choose so choose wisely... Being impatient wud only syiok for a while but regret for a long time... Bottomline is, after get license muz die2 buy bike meh ? B4 tis can take public transport so y not sacrifice a bit longer n save up 1st then decide...

Well we showing off technical knowledge or what? Because if you have to spend all that on making the bike 'new' again, could might as well buy a new or a newer 4 stroker. IMO for 2B, just stick to your kupchais, YBRs etc, more cost effective and could serve as a side bike in the future. Besides these little 2 strokers have horrible resale value, especially if you buy from shop.
