Multi tone horns

Last month i brought my gsr for inspection at AMK JIC, with my Hella super tone horns fixed on the bike. When the inspection officer test my horn, he told me my horn cannot pass, must change. When i asked him why, he said because "multi tone horns are meant for cars, not motorcycles".

 

After repeatedly saying that he may have to fail my inspection, he let me pass in the end, but gave me a "CP" (see attached photo). CP, as i was told, meant that my inspection is still a pass, but the stated issue (in this case is my horns) has to be fixed ASAP within 7 days.

 

I have always thought that my horns are street legal and LTA-compliant. Furthermore, even onemotoring's list of vehicle modifications only stated that air horns are not allowed, and made no mention of other types of horns whatsoever.

 

Does anyone know anything about multi tone horns cannot be used on motorcycle?

All passed without prejudice. (and same applied to pass 3 inspection i went for)

Does he know the term of multi-tone?

Stock S4 has 2horns. Does that consider multi-tone?

Once they see you lack confidence they will 'makan' you more resulting in a failure for your inspection. I have gone for many inspection and passed each one even once when my rear tyre almost 'botak'.

AMK JIC is behind the bus depot in AMK, at the area where the old SSDC used to be.

During my inspection, the officer kept using the terms "dual tone" and "multi tone" interchangeably.

 

Does anybody know how or where i can go to seek official clarification or lodge a proper complaint? I don't wish to let this thing leave a record under my name/vehicle, if there's any. Or should i just let the matter go, since my inspection already passed?

This is a case where this Inspector sets his own rule.

 

The Hella Supertone is not a "multi-tone horn", it is a dual tone horn ie, one horn with high tone while the other has a low tone.

 

I have the exact same horns on my previous bikes and never had any problems at inspection.

 

On the spot, you should just disconnect one horn, and tell him now it is a mono tone horn.

Multi tone is those horn that you hear bike putting got the Godfather tone when on. Thats multi tone. This kinna Hella horn also cannot use then you ask him use what? Bicycle bell ting ting huh. lol

So far no issues when I send my bike with hella horn for inspection. Usually the inspector just test if the horn is workin, then proceed for other checks.
