Hi Lads and Ladies,

I'm planning a solo ride up to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia come mid-May on my 400cc Shadow Slasher. Route details and destinations are still in the process of being worked out, but I would appreciate any help or suggestions that fellow bikers who have been on that road would care to contribute. It would be a slow and steady trip, allowing for time and space to explore off the beaten path etc.

If there's anyone interested in such a trip, or have that amount of time to spare (I'm thinking of about 2-3weeks) do contact me and I'm sure we can work something out since my schedule is quite flexible. That's all folks!

Watch this space! =)

Not sure if my blog write up of my trip last year will be useful to you.

http://indochinabackpackingbikingadventure.blogspot.com/2011/10/adventure.html

But I do want to highlight that your slasher will definately suffer in Laos (Vientianne to Udom Xai) as the terrrain is not very hospitable. You may wana bring along 2 sets of spare tubes as your tube size is not easily available. Time frame of 2-3 weeks is definately not enough for a slow & steady exploration trip, it'll be more of a touch and go, chase the sun kind of ride.

The only reason why I'm not laughing with you is that I prefer laughing at you.

Thanks f/x and world misanthropy for the well wishes! Much appreciated.

Pipipapipu, I'll be sure to look at your blog to check out possible places I can head to. Yeah one worry is the parts for my bike. Already have trouble finding them in Singapore. The dirt road and all are a big problem since mine cruises better on proper road than anything else. But yup, I'll remember to bring extra tubes along! =) thanks!

Hi all,

Thanks so much for the well-wishes and all. A fellow biker and I would be heading up this coming Monday (14th May 2012). He'll be going up for about 10 days while I can afford a month touring. Have read from many trip reports on this forum and benefited greatly from it. So far, it's all systems go! Just a quick question - from what I observed, hotels and guesthouses (esp in Laos and Cambodia) charge in USD whereas their petrol stations and food establishments charge in local currency? Thanks for any quick reply!

Most of the mordern day cowboys get stuck in Bangkok.

Usually in Soi Cowboy or Soi Nana. How's the fun for you?
