I will need to get a dummy short key to open my fuel tank. The original key will get bent soon.

i made my blank key(no hiss chip) for $5 at the shop beside regina. this is used for opening tank only.

was quoted $60 to make one with chip.

but my workshop mech advised that our bike hiss module max can only duplicate 4 or 5 keys.. so if you are not using to start bike.. then wait until you really need it then dup.

i also realized that by "pressing" the front tank down, it will be easier on the key and the lock to release the latch. hopefully will help and prevent the lock from getting spoilt.

Yea thats wad i've been doin too. Made a normal duplicate key juz to open the false tank n pillion seat. N yes, pressing it down before turnibg the key relieves pressure from the latch, making it easier to open. Saves n lenghtens the life. Apparebtly someone oerseas has already broken latch below the keyhole. So yea it might happen to any of us here. :)

To all nc700 bros,

Can anyone give me a brief explanation on your HISS when will it appear and disappear from the display. Before you put the key in and after you start the engine. Thanks

Boon siew say that my HISS got no light, therefore he asking me to take the second key for them to test.

Hopefully its the key problem. Will bring down tomorrow.

According to manual:

The immobilizer indicator comes on for approx. two seconds then it goes off, when the ignition switch is turned

ON with the properly registered key and the HISS functions normally. If there is any problem or the properly

registered key is not used, the indicator will remains on.

Also, if HISS light is on when you turn the key on, then it means there's problem.

Hi fellow NC700 riders

I just got my new NC 700X last week. Wasnt a smooth experience.

Day one realise the spring for the horn button was not working. That means the horn button does not pop up and got free play.

Went back to shop on Day 2 to find that the spring for the horn broke. A manufacturing defect. But the mechanic fixed it by bending the spring somehow. Problem solved. Then I realise the HISS light light up when he off the engine.

My HISS light only blinked on that day when I off the engine. Then I adjusted the time on the meter at night of day 2. And till now I never saw it blink again. I have 5 service manual and none of them is English. Lucky I downloaded from the FB page in English.

But I found no instruction on activating HISS. Do you need to activate it through some button pressing?

I am a Honda bike lover:-

Honda CRM 125, Honda Cub C70, Honda Steed 400VSE

Honda Shadow Slasher 400, Honda XR125L, Honda XR400RW

Honda SuperCub C90 single seater (vintage ride - 43km/l)

Honda NC700X (Smooth tourer around Indochina)

Honda CRF250L (Enduro - 30km/L)

Troy437, try this.

Insert key, turn on electricals, press and hold left button at meter for about 3 seconds. HISS light should blink, turn off.

HISS should be blinking already.

Ps: even of ur HISS is not blinking, it is still active.

Hmm as what whyzee said it might be immobiliser aka "HISS" problem if u xan switch on but cannot crank the engine.

Anyways have any of u guys have this other issue: bike is in gear 1, side stand up, clutch in but cannot start. I had that problem once or twice. Meddled with the wire connector at the clutxh lever there n bike was able to start.

ok guys, my problem rectified already. The fault is the on/off switch. Will be able to collect back today liao.:cheeky:

This info is also all for members to take note, if you guys encounter the same problem like mine.

Oh. that's good to know. Thanks for sharing, and continue enjoying the bike!

Hi new NC owner here just wondering what kind of mileage are you guys getting on a full tank of gas to just before reserve and or including reserve?

Reserve start blinking at 320km usually for me. If more aggressive, around 300. If go touring, and chiong, can be around 240-250.

HISS will not turn off...

just the indicator is not flashing...

the indicator will flash every 2 secs for 24hrs only before it stops flashing...
