hi, if u guys r looking for ester based engine oil, i looked thru the market & found motul 300V to be among the cheapest, priced at $20 per bottle.

if u want a bit lousy one (mixture of PAO & rockoil), u can try rockoil priced at $18

wat the different bwteen ester base and non ester base?

As I know, now only MOTUL & FUCHS 4T is Ester base. Been try this 2, both work very well. But Motul expensive abit (10W-50)...so I use Fuchs Pro 4 Plus(15W-50), cheaper the Motul 2 dollar.

Motul-MotoGP Yamaha team

Fuchs-MotoGP Kawasaki team

SO see which brand u like loh~ :cheeky:

where u get ur pro 4 plus?

just try out the Fuch silkolene pro 4 15W50 on my old Honda Helix(10.5 yrs), is better compare to Mobile 1 in term of performances wise. Start up at 1 light push, engine noise reduce, temperature maintain.

Mobile 1 cost me $22.50 at Esso petrol station, outside selling $18 (hear from fellow rider).

Fuch Silkolene pro 4 15W50 outside selling $21-$22 (Ubi area as quizesilver tell me), got MO from Quizesilver only $15.50

Anyone care to share motul 300V performance?

With every good wishes

Which 4T engine oil is good for super four? Is How much it cost ? BP Vistra good to use ?

honda recommended shell for the engine oil. been proven making the engine running smooth & better. for other brands of engine oil.. repsol, rockoil, fuchs & motul are very gd & cost more than normal brands. these brands been tested & proven which r commonly use for racing. in anyway u can try experiment using different kinds of engine oil & when u r comfortable using any of it.. then u have the choice to choose which u want. i believe those cost more r definitely good one.

mitsevo.. theres no difference between this two terms that so called.. engine oil(4T) & gear oil. its only engine oil is commonly name for 4 stroke bikes & gear oil for 2 stroke bikes. no worry.. u can just use any of this. mayb if u r interested.. how about repsol or rockoil gear oil & their 2T. for ur gear skipping problem.. commonly its the clutch plate have been wear off which need to be change a new one.

yah, there's diff between these 2. the diff is in the kind of additional stuff they put in. 4 stroke oil has more additives cause it lubs the whole bike wherelse gear oil only does the gear box. so between the same quailty, 4 stroke oil is more exp cause of the additives. its kind of a price diff decision now. i recommend motul gear oil or rockoil gearoil

ur gear changing thing can be costed by ur gear oil, ur clutch cable (too loose or tight) or ur clutch plates (prayit isn't tis, quite ex to change)

Yes there is a difference.

Gear oil is usually "thicker" than Engine Oil (Higher Viscosity to deal with the 'shearing' effect of gears)

As redname mentioned, they also contain different (probably less) addictives than EO as EO has to deal with the by-products of the engine combustion (carbon, etc) as well as lubricate the gears/clutch.

quick question. When is the time to change

1. clutch plate / lining etc?

2. engine oil?

Many thanks!

1) When there's a problem with your clutch (e.g. experiencing clutch slip)

2) Follow recommended change intervals in your manual, minus a few kms to play safe if you want.

did the max-cycle motorcycle oil price went up (last oct'04 was S$16)?

if u ask for my opinion, i still say RP max-cycle motorcycle oil is the best for my bike.

i used RP max-cycle motorcycle until my recommended oil change at 4000 km n it felt at time of oil change just like castrol R4 (when new).

currently trying out silkolene fuchs 4t pro plus, not as slick but still new oil, running for about 1000 km now.

my advise don't use oil for cars (motor oil), they r not design for bike usage, spend a little bit more n it is worth the amount.

if u really want to save $$$, use semi-syn oil for bikes rather then use motor oil.

Note of caution: Motor oil do not contains zinc and phosphorous, as these metals are hard on your car's catalytic converters. They're substituting molybdenum disulfide, which lowers friction and improves gas mileage. It also causes problems for people with wet clutches, that is most motorcycles.
