28bucks per bottle(1quart right? =946ml only) ??

that's pretty high... retails for 22 at a local car wholesaler....

got to check out their servicing package... might be more affordable instead of just buying single bottles of oil...

This Chex 9000 seems really popular. Just some feedback regarding the Carlube motorcycle oil. I just changed from Motul 300V to the Carlube motorcycle oil last weekend. First impression (after just 2 rides) is that the Carlube is not good. Engine sounds and feels rough. More vibrations everywhere (from idle to high rev). Unlike the 300V, the engine was free-revving and smooth. Comparing my 300V at the time of change (approx. 2500km) vs the new Carlube, Carlube loses out.

I am riding a Yamaha Sparks 135 (liquid cool). Oil change every 2500km. For the next change, I will either try Royal Purple or Chex.

I use Carlube for my car too, but it feels ok. I am thinking maybe on a small bike the vibrations and sounds are more apparent, compared to car.

thanks for the feed back. i got a bottle of carlube with me which i will be changing in about 400km. riding the same bike as you. any further feedback about carlube now? or maybe i should just dump the carlube and try something else. can't seem to find much good review except on some taiwan blog which i came across.

motul oil is too expensive for my liking. most like i stick with chex 9000 or amsoil if it does not work with carlube.

anyway, it seem yamaha spark seem to like **W50 oil more then **W40 oil from feedback. chex 9000 also seem to work better then amsoil MCF for spark. the manual recommend either 20w40 or 20W50 so i guess a **W50 will be just fine.

The carlube is OKAY. For about 500-800km. Anything more and it will perform like crap. The oil starts to get watery. I used to use it. First few KM is nice and smooth. But you can literally feel the oil degrade as you ride. Slowly but surely, your ride becomes rougher, engine becomes noisier etc.

But i bo chup also. Ride YBR nia. As long got oil, can already. Haha.

yeah. the more i trying to find out about carlube, the more i feel like just using it as chain lube. hahaha... most likley i will give it a pass.

i sent an email to carlube asking for details about this oil but so far they have not came back to me. as only in USA they can claim group III oil as full synthetic, i asked carlube what base oil are they using but they don't bother to reply which is rather disappointing.

the only information i can find online is a few UOA report on carlube oil for car. as you mention, most of the UOA show it shear out of viscosity. other then that, the oil seem to be doing quite well.

2000km review on chex 9000.

overall engine is still smooth and good. love the oil. somehow when i was using amsoil MCF after 1000km plus, i have to kickstart multiple times before getting the engine roaring. so far, chex 9000 does not give me such problem. still nice and smooth.... a great oil to be in your engine.

Shell Rimula R3X anyone?

30,000km review on chex 9000.

Still runs "like newly overhauled", no repairs need to be done on engine. Still feels like engine is capable of being pushed faster, fuel economy remains 40+km/l at 100kph. Recently leaned down the carb fuel-air mixture a bit for quieter running and since I know Chex 9000 has a very high flash point and being a synthetic, it dissipates heat faster than mineral oils, I have no worries at all running at a higher engine temperature.

Oil consumption is practically nil. Have not checked oil levels in over 6 months.

Pretty good record for an ancient rust bucket.

long time never hear from you...

did not check oil level for six months... you run the same oil for 30000km? or you have use the chex 9000 for your bike for the last 30000km?

Lol of course cannot not change oil for 30,000kms. This is not a car.

OCI (oil change interval) is 2,500km now. 2,000km last year.

I think you can setup SBF's oil enthusiasts club and hold monthly makan meetings over oil discussions lol.

First time try this chex 9000 on my 4yrs old 125z, doesn't feel much different. Chg at

Planet.

Previously using maxima frm planet also 22$

isn't that a good thing? it work as well as a $22 engine oil! cheers...

My 125Z is totally unfussy about oil. Once upon a long time ago, I never changed (mineral) EO for over 6 months. Still fine.

4 strokes however, the EO has to do much more work lubricating both the top and bottom ends of the engine. Some bikes even feel differently when changing grades or brands of EO.

Since I had to keep up with class 2/2A convoys last night (constant high throttle settings and speeds) over more than 4 hours of riding, I'm glad I had full synthetic oil :)

the itch got over me again this morning. called my dad, took the bottle of carlube EO and ride to my uncle factory to change out the 2000km old Chex 9000. on the way, my dad asked question like what the manual recommended OCI, what did the mechanic recommend etc. my dad had been a car mechanic for his whole life before retired.

upon reaching, we started work by gathering the right tools. there are jobs to be done this morning. we started by draining the EO. my dad is dipping his hand into the oil pan and rubbing the used oil around his fingers. he told me this oil is good enough for at least 5,000km. the 2,000km OCI recommended by the mechanic is BS and i am wasting a prefectly good EO. faint... he also told me he recommended my brother to do a 10,000km OCI for his car rather then 5,000km. so far my brother car had been trouble free.

while the oil is draining, we clean the drain plug and strainer, tighten the chain and mounting rack of my box which had been rattling loudly lately. after a good 20mins, he closed the drain plug and i have the honour pouring the carlube oil into the engine. i estimated pouring about 850-880ml of oil which he told me is too much after checking with the dip stick. he told me this will put additional stress to the engine but should not cause major problem. the recommended amount without filter change should be 800ml.

after doing some house keeping and touching up, i run the engine for 2-3mins idle before moving off. from the short distance back home, the first impression of carlube is fine. smooth and nice. not as bad as what some reviews here said. of course, any new oil is good. only time can tell whether can it hold up. will provide more feedback about carlube as the mileage build up. as for Chex 9000, it is indeed a nice and long lasting oil.

anyway, i had a great time this morning. a good father and son time together. thanks dad...
