Exporting of used car with no COE

Hi bros, I want to ask some questions about exporting cars that have no more COE left.

Instead of sending it for scraping, if I want to export it, will I still get back my COE value or rebate?

I did a quick browse through on google and forum, there were people discussing about how they would get back 31k for scraping because their COE value was 30k and 1k was the car value. So if I were to scrap my car, I will get back COE value plus whatever the value of the car? If so, even if COE prices are very high now, we will still get it back when we send the car for scraping?

 

and also, if I want to export the car without scraping, will I still get back the COE value?

If the car is a popular model, you can sell it to an used car exporter for a higher value because on top of the rebate when you scrap your car, you will get a few thousand dollars more which is commonly referred as the "body".

When one scraps a car, you will get back the unused portion of the COE or PQP, and the PARF if applicable. Nothing for the "body" because scrapping means it will be destroyed.

Don't understand. The rebate of COE is based on what you paid for the COE so the prevailing COE is irrelevant.

Let say i bought the car in 2003, when COE value was just 15k. If i were to de-register it in 2013, how much money will i get back? will i get back the full COE amount I paid back in 2003, which is 15k?

In your case, you get back $0 for you COE.

 

There is rebate from PARF which is based on the OMV.

U won't get any COE rabate if u de-register your vehicle when the COE ended in 2013, but u are still entitled to the PARF, which is 65% of the OMV since yours was registered in 2003. It's better that u check the actual amount at http://www.onemotoring.com closer to the date u intend to do it. U can try check the car body value with a few exporters to compare price. Take note that u won't be entitled to PARF rebate if u renew the COE.

a coe is like 'rental paper' from the government.. buy 10 yrs coe at $1000.. after nine years decided to scrap .. $1000- $900 = $100 get back
