Dear bros,

Anyone have watched the online video on recent Ferrari crash at Bugis?

Such freak drivers should not be driving on the road in the first place!

This reckless move would only endangered the lives of other road user.. (sorry for ragging here, but i felt totally outraged by the freak accident).

It came to my mind. Can we prevent ourselves in these situation?

I notice that that such freak drivers have high tendency beating the red light at esp. late night, where the road are all quiet and dead.

So shall we go when red light turning to green, in our favour?

My advise to all fellow bikers, especially riding at late night;

Keep ourselves safe by Checking Left & Right of clear traffics, before moving our wheels.

This is the least we can do.

Pls feel free to shares any Safety practices which we could have adopt.. Thanks

Slow to move off may result in a bugger hitting u from behind becoz didnt noe u ve not move off.

Best is be alert and if no one chiong red light, move off on time. If got vehicle chiong red light, quickly check ur mirror in case got vehicle chiong ur behind.

But with e ferrari and my own recent near miss. Now lane splitting a bit scared. Full alert but become less fun e ride. :(

I doubt any amount of checking could have prevent this kind of freak accident.

If it's your time to go, it is time.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

I learned that during my 2B too, though my class 3 instructors keep asking me not to do that though I want to and insist I move off quickly to prevent road hogging. (Left lane)

But even as I learned that in 2B, no one on the road does that. You would become the nerd of the road.

And in the actual road, I noticed Taxi does look at the surrounding, but not at the surrounding road but the traffic light in the different direction, when the traffic light at the different direction turns amber, they move off as being many years on road they know theirs is about to turn green soon, though in actual its still red.

Once saw a taxi nearly colliding with another taxi who beat the blinking green arrow light, he was distance away from the arrow was blinking, so he drag his accelerator all the way but the blinking arrow was gone before he turn, he turns anyway since he was too fast to slow down.. the going straight taxi beat the red light when he see the different direction traffic light turns amber and moves off, they then met at the entrance of the lane they are heading to.

when the going straight taxi heard the other taxi horning him from his right, he swing his car all the way to the left, and the one turning right stomp his brake. but luckily both are good enough to avoid collision. Luckily it was an empty lane when the taxi swing to the left, every other cars waiting was staring at them..

the only possible way is to invest your money and buy a Lamborghini... go faster than a Ferarri... :p

just kidding

but you don't have to drive a super car, you just need to be stupid

once whilst driving, i was on a filter lane going left and i checked right... it was clear so i moved on and signaled right to turn right at the upcoming junction.

before i knew it, a black Golf GTI was blasting his horn right at my tail, he swerved and cut out (nearly) in front of me, so i hi-beamed him.

and what did he do?

jammed brake... fortunately my reaction was quick, tyres were good, brakes were excellent and ABS was working...

i stopped centimeters from the drivers door

if i was driving a pickup/lorry with a dashboard camera and didn't have to send my friends home, i would have gladly slammed into the dickweed.

oh, btw, it was a local... young and dumb local chinese kid... probably still in school or something.

got out and started shouting. my buddy was sitting in the veh-com seat and i quietly reminded him that there was an umbrella at his side in case they went batshit on us

after shouting and walking like they had a durian up their rear ends... they jumped into their Golf GTI and zoomed off again.

it's not the bike/car, it's the driver/rider

Grounded... :/

Actually you are kind of quite similar as him since u also high beam him. And you are suppose to confirm the traffic safety before u come out of the filter lane, unless you mean he swerved out of the filter lane as well from behind u.

i had the same prob too coming out from a minor road at some hdb blocks near a fliter lane, was turning left, check right no car, suddenly turn halfway, suddenly a fierce sport car zoom out of the filter lane at my right about 20 metres away, horning right at my tail the next second. he overtake me few sec later, of course i does nothing since theres nothing more i can do. i'm certain hes traveling faster than 50km/hr while filtering.. many ppl dont slow down alot while filtering..

imo only way is get bitten by a mutated spider and develop ur "spidey sense", but wat r the odds of tat happening... then again, wat r the odds of FT driving Ferrari smashing onto u... quite high on Sg roads i presume.

mate... the problem is that i did check clear and exit the turn, check right clear and filter to the right

where he was coming from was a hill, when i last looked there was no car or lights (it was 11-ish pm) coming off the crest of the hill and all of a sudden he's on to me

just imagine the speed he was coming off the hill... and we're talking about regular neighnourhood roads with 50-60km limits

I noe e feeling. Sometimes entering expressway, check right side clear, signal, accelarate to 90+, prepare to change lane, 1 last check for safety.

Suddenly got car at e right side. :( had to evasive action. ^^

sometimes i feel tat e laws should change to left lane also has a lower maximum speed like 80km/hr on expressway. :/

sometimes off peak hrs entering expressway will jam becoz some Need for spd drivers cause e vehicle entering to full stop. :/

Some things are really beyond our control. There's nothing we can do about it.

The focus shouldn't be on ourselves, it should be on bad drivers like that Ferrari driver. They are the ones who can do something about it to improve the roads for all users.

I think this mindset is slightly flawed. ve read this statement many times so just repeating it.

Right of way or not, if bang we rider is at losing end.

Likewise regardless of right or wrong, we riders must still be high alert and evade where necessary. Bang le, die le, we also cant scold e stupid, lousy wrong driver.

Oh, and buy insurance. :)

sure, what you are saying is correct. but what has your motherhood statements got to do with the 'flawed mindset' of my post? :)

Just to clarify and also i may ve misunderstood ur post.

"Some things beyond our control. Nothing we can do"

We can ride safe, given way to idiot drivers dun rise up to their challenge?

"focus should not be on ourselves. Should be on bad drivers"

Partly agree but if bad drivers dun change then we ve to up our game to avoid or evade them rather than just praying they will change? If they dun change we can only wait to die?

These were my thoughts when read ur post. Sry if i misunderstood!! Sry in advance. :)
