New sportster checking in....just got myself a 48....finally, dream come true.....where can I paint my tank? Any specialty shop?

 

U got a brand new one or pre-loved?if new,i suggest u keep it as it is,unless u get HDS to send to paint for u,if not it's warranty voided.

 

Aire Pro designs do air brushes paintjob. Look for Shane Chia,he used to ride a fatboy n still riding a bike now. Their prices r not cheap thou.

Haha HDS is crap lah. U know,ur 48 rocker boxes r aluminum rite,doesn't go wif e all black look rite?i bought online Harley original black rocker boxes for my fren to put it on. He bring to HDS,ask them put them on. HDS says they won't do it as its not bought fr them,n warranty will void if put on.

 

Knn,HDS monopolized everything.say warranty void if use other parts other than e HD brand. Warranty void if repair/service not done by them. Now use HD brand part,ask them put on, still say cannot coz not bought fr them?!

 

Lucky thing I dun buy new bikes,esp HD.if not I under control by them.

This is called e rocker boxes. They sit rite on top of e cylinders.

Since ur bike is new,I suggest u do ur mods after e warranty is over. Rite now all ur paint,chrome n parts still so new. Wait till w paint start to fade or if maybe ur bike dropped one time,the redo e paintjob or e parts.

That's coz u bought it fr them. I bought original Harley part, which was Powdercoated in USA.but HDS won't do put it up.

bro,do u suggest to fix up the rocker box outside?since HDS dont allow ORIGINAL part not brought from them to fix.but then again i read that alot of rocker box leaking problem.whats ur advice?

Haha I've seen brand new Harley wif rocker boxes leaking juz after a few mths. Anyway wif all e vibrations,normally in a few yrs time, everything on e Harley bound to leak somewhere.

Now another problem comes up. I accidentally did some scratches on my exhaust front heat shield. Anyone know how much it cost to replace it? Are there other options for heat shield design for XL50 Sportster?
