Hi guys, my bike is feeling bumpy when riding. Initially i thought it was the road that was not even, so i went to my house mscp and try. I open throttle and clutch in, I could feel a bump in almost every revolution of the wheel. Have already eliminated some problems, fork and rims aligned, cone bearing and swing arm bush replaced. But the problem still occur. Advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wheel bearing damaged?

Tires out of shape due to wear & tear?

Balancing done on tires?

Chain tension not done properly?

Carb setting?

Hi bro, wheel bearings also changed already. My tyres are also a few months old only so I did not do any tire balancing, how much does it cost to do a tire balancing. I recently just changed my chain, it might be chain? Hm..

Went to bike shop check, the mechanic say everything is ok, but according to what i said, he suspects that it's the tires problem.

What other reasons could it be? What should I do to solve this problem. I Thought that my tires are seated properly to the rims so I deflate it till 35 and then inflate it back to 220. The problem still occurs....

Tire balancing is done when you change into a new set of tires. Does this problem started not long after you change your tires?

Does the bike have any accidents prior to this?

Hi bro... I only did balancing and alignment for my rim. As for tire, I did not do. Yes I had an accident pior to this about a few months back. I did repairs to my rim and fork and my bike handlebar does not vibrate already. However the bumpy problem still exist. From what I remember so far it happened only after I change my front tire. I will obselete the possibility of damaged fork and rims. So can I say the only possibility is damaged tires? I did a visual inspection, the tire is seated nicely to the rim and there are no bumps or flat spots. Based on what I noted down, is there still a possibility of damaged tires? Or are there other factors that might cause the bumpy feeling?

How do I go around check my caliper? I visually checked my disc, should be okay. Also can you explain how the caliper would affect the bumpy problem...

Might be tire need balancing.

Usually when changing new tires, they will do balancing to even out the weight distribution when the whole rim+tire rotating.

How is the balancing done? So far I change so many times tire. Did not see them doing or Maybe I don't know They doing it. Will it be expensive to do tire balancing or around the same If I were to change to a tire?

Tyre balancing is usually included in the tyre change deal. This however does not apply to smaller bikes.

No wonder I never experience tire balancing before. So should I go to shop and ask for tire balancing service or should I just change to a new tire. But before that I would like to list out all possibility and start off with the cheapest solution first.

1) tire not balanced

2) chain tension wrong

3) brake caliper

Anymor3?

I ride small bike only but I have experienced what you are experiencing. Gone to alot of shops and asked many mechanics about it. Even did replacement of the parts just like you. It lasted for months. Seems like no mechanics from any shop could diagnose it. And then somethin struck my mind. And indeed I was right. The tyres was leaking air slowly but surely. Did the necessary by myself and problem solved. It could be the same for you too. Cheapest is to monitor your tyre pressure first.

Reinstall the valve again and check for anymore leakage. The problem was gone.

I thought once you remove the valve all the air would come out? Do i have to do it at shop or can i do it on my own? If can do on my own would it possible to guide me on doing it?

You are asking the obvious. I did it at the petrol kiosk where I can have access to the air pump easily. You can do it on your own if you know how. If you are not technically inclined I suggest that its better you do it at a trusted shop. Just check your tyre pressure before and after every ride. That should tell you if you are losing pressure.

theres a simple way of instantly finding out.

buy a cheap water spray-bottle and fill with high-suds soapy water. spray liberally on tyre nozzle. if indeed the nozzle is leaking air, you will see obvious bubbling. In this case, simply bring to shop and tell them to change nozzle. wouldn cost you more than 20 bucks. the nozzle costs around 8 bucks, plus labour. since the labour involves removing the tyres from the rim, i personally think not worth saving the money over labour.

but if you dont see bubbling from the nozzle, but still suspect your tyre is leaking air, then it could be puncture. look carefully at visible surface of tyre, slowl turn and continue scanning surface. sometimes its not easy to spot, and here your soapy water spray is useful again. spray liberally on visible surface, wait to see if you spot bubbling, rotate tyre and repeat.

oh, and best to do these after inflating to recommended pressure at petrol kiosk, coz than the leak would be at its most powerful. if its already deflated, the leak might be weak.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!
