I think i Kenna piston jam, i was racing with my friends at sle at 4am.

Go until 140, maintain for about 1km then engine die and rear wheel locked. I clutched in and move to shoulder without dropping the bike. Engine temp showed very hot, but i open the seat the coolant was normal temp and still got enough 2t .

Any place good to service SP especially for this kind of case? And estimate cost? Btw got any bike shop do towing?

I also had a seizure going abt 9k revs on NSHW from Machap to Pagoh trying to overtake. Yes what youve described was exactly what I went thro at that time unfortunately. Some kind soul rider pushed me to Pagoh where i had my block sandpapered & a temporary piston fitted. The heat you described is not the coolant heat, but from the friction of your piston against the block. Most probly caused by 2t pump not pumping fast enough at high revs (old).

I had mine done in JB, Tai Seng Kooi Motorsports. Ordered parts Sun morning. Parts arrvd Mon late morning. By Mon 5pm, ready to go. everything cost me RM3130.... Piston, rings, piston bearing, cylinder block, rc valve, 2t pump, air filter, gaskets, coolant, spark plug.

Planet Motors does towing. My fren had a snapped clutch cable one evening. Had Uncle Chong arrange for towing.

Crazybiker,

I dont know if there are any towing services from sg to jb, but if there is, Ive a feeling it might cost a fortune. That time in pagoh the cost of towing my bike to bk to jb was RM800!. The cost of sandpapering the block & putting temporary piston was Rm280! So the choice was clear! i can PM you Mr Tai's number & you can ask him. He might have some connections in sg. I dunno.

Alternatively I think you can ask him to order parts for you. you go over to collect & bring bk sg to do. But he might want to look at your bike 1st to assess the damage before he orders. im not sure.

@wait4me - no lah. not racer setup. More like racer mentality, & still a racer at heart even tho retired frm racing. Test ride bike also must whack throttle until engine scream lol. Uncle chong is budget mech. Change only if bo pian. His "Still can" means no need to change. For TSK, that "still can" is jus not good enuf, must change. What is "still can" for TSK is "still good" for uncle chong. Thats the diff betn the 2 mechs. 1 help you save $$ but hv to endure any inconvenience or discomforts. The other you spend more, but you get tip top condition. For racer, evrything also must tip top right? haha. Anyway I only go these 2 places for my repairs. I just dont trust other mechs after some unpleasant or expensive experiences elsewhere.

Repair my bike already at bike workz at Kaki bukit.

Did full service and decarb exhaust, front brake disc and pads change. Both brakes bleed. Changed the block and piston along with rings and gaskets etc.

Total $838, took 3 working days to finish.

Run in 500km and advised not to go above 90km/h :(

Was it a new block or a 2nd hand block? I hope for your sake that if they charged you for new block, you got a new block. I believe my prev owner kena conned by his mech. (not bike workz). Before selling me he showed receipt that the bike was overhauled few mths ago....new piston, new block etc. And he even sincerely believed that it was a new block. I met up with him to buy other carousell items 1 day & he asked me abt the bike "Hows the bike?" etc When I told him i had what seemed like compression problems (actually carb tuning problems), he was shocked "how can that be? Its a brand new block! hv you been whacking throttle evryday?"

But when I had my seizure & had it overhauled at TSK, i asked him how come a 2 year old block can also hv seizure. He picked up the old block & showed me the wear patterns & explained this is not a 2 year old block. This is at least 8 yrs old block. No way a 2 year old block can look like this. My piston, block, rc valve & 2t pump were brand new, straight from the box. Opened in front of me. Did you get to see your piston & block? Or you settled for a 2nd hand block before repairs?

Oh! They do decarbonising exhaust as well. How much? Do they do it there & then or you have to leave the bike there for few days? In JB its abt 2 hr job, including respray. Separate costs for belly & endcan.

Running in....this might make you happier: Manual says "Max continuous engine speed during 1st 1000km must not exceed 8k. Increase max continuous engine speed by 2k betn odometer readings of 1000km & 1600km. Drive briskly, vary speeds frequently & use full throttle for short bursts only. Upon reaching odometer readings of 1600km you can subject the motorcycle to full throttle operation. However do not exceed 11k."

Just mix your revs up. Dont stay at 1 rev only. Dont do excessive engine braking.

But from my own experience.... its very very difficult to follow the method on sg roads. during my 1st 1000km, Very difficult to even tarik 1st gear to 7k revs after traffic lights cos some car will always change lane & cut in front of me as im accelerating. I think the 2nd stage 1 is practically impossible to do on sg roads. The max ive ever done was 9k revs for abt 1-2km only.

I think mine is 2nd hand block :(

Decarb + spraying is $60, i not sure if they did the whole pipe or end can only. I can see the end can no more carbon. They cut at the belly and showed me the welding, which passed inspection today.

I think decarb can do within that day, but bike works got a lot of bikes at any time, so not sure if they will do decarb only on the spot.

And now my bike not as snappy as before, and got the machine gun sound at 5k rpm. Previously no MG sound and I thought after decarb pick-up would be faster. :(

Malaysia still sell new original engine block and piston? Or need go Thailand?

Could be 2nd hand block & piston set. or a 2nd hand block + new piston. A fren of mine told me 2nd hand blk & piston set abt Sgd $400+. My brand new block + rc valve was RM$1600+. Piston +rings Rm$520+. But this is the japanese made honda piston. There is also a Thai made compatible piston which is also lighter abt Rm118.

Machine gun sound around 5k is normal sp characteristic. But can be smoothened out by carb tuning, but at the expense of some top end power.

Usually during run in stage, engine will feel a bit stiff. But once the piston rings begin to seat in, things will be better.

I dunno where TSK got my parts from. Could be KL or from Thailand. But he assured me he can still get parts cos he signed up with Honda (whatever that means)

Cool thanks, will check out TSK when i go into JB. I'm guessing he would have fairing parts as well?

Fairing also need to order. Allow 3-4 days for delivery. He replaced my top cowl Rm$390 after some of its right side broke off after i fell down on a wet day on pie.

So timingwise, gv him a call on a sun or mon & tell him what part(s) you need/want & go in on a weekend morng to install, most especially if its a fairly major operation (eg overhaul or full service). Otherwise you might need to leave the bike there overnight!

Last weekend he replaced my front disc abt Rm350+, brand new honda stock. How much did yours cost?
