my SP's electrical problem. . .

so i went to a workshop today with a completely flat battery - neutral light also cannot light up when engine not started, then when engine started, neutral light will flicker according to engine rev.

told them that i suspected that it could be a rectifier fault, they probed it, found that it provided 13+V up to max of 14 V when at high revs. and so the pronounced they electrical system fine.

but there was a flat battery, so they sanded the contacts, reconnected it, and told me to be on my way. i still think there is something draining the battery such that the next morning the battery will be flat.

went out, rode to little india to find out that LAB closed for a funeral procession. forgot, left headlight on, then battery flatted again. So i went riding to charge the battery. seems like the battery is now charging fine. had a long 1 hour ride to CTE->SLE->KJE->Lim Chu Kang (woohoo! new top speed!)->AYE->ECP->Changi airport->ECP-> home.

now thinking about it, could it be possible that the ERP IU is draining the battery? i discovered that the IU is connected in parallel to the battery, with no switch, so it is continually powered. Is that a good idea? seems like a cheap hack to me. how else are you ERP IUs connected? Does it drain the battery in the first place?

sigh. when the bike runs properly it is such a fun bike to ride, compared to the phantom - this bike simply wants to keep a line at high speeds, not like the phantom that tends to drift to one side and needs some disciplining to get it to cut a nice curve. Not to mention that it is almost 2x the HP of the lardass phantom :p

phantom got so jialat meh

i still thought of changing to it le...damn relax

but y cant it keep in a striaght line...i tried 1 b4 at expressway speeds...no problem in keeping in a straight line le..juz that e bike cannot free hand at low speed handlebar will shift one side nia

update us on ur batt prob k..from wat i read, it juz sounds like a flat batt

good luck

so did they check the battery for u?? maybe the battery old already cant charge up fully already?

what happened at LAB? ah boy's dad ah? oh man...RIP at least the man lived a comfortable life judging frm the size of his car

anyway LCK is a favorite huntout for TPs

better be on the alert if u wanna try anything there

the part when the ERP requires eletricity is probably when u insert or remove the cashcard when the backlight lights up and the value is displayed on the LCD screen OR when u pass thru ERP gantry. at other times...the ERP reader shouldnt be sucking up yr battery. if u r really so concerned abt ERP reader...then i suggest u get a switch ard $1 to $2 and fix to the wire for the ERP reader lor

they claim that the battery is new - i think i trust them enough that they actually took one from the box and filled it with acid etc... the plastic of the battery does feel brand new, not the least dusty/oily.

Think it could really be that the contact points between the battery terminals and the wire contacts are really oxidised, and that the battery was simply not being charged. the battery seems to be charging now, but i still suspect that the battery capacity is not correct, should be a bigger capacity, cos the discharge rate for the battery is a bit quick. Or maybe again it is because the battery is not yet fully charged...

i think i read something like Ah Boy's dad. . . today got 20% off at LAB ley! to apologise to customers for inconvenience for closing on monday.

LCK: i think sometimes must think like a cop: yes, it is a speedster hangout, but then, i guess on monday nights, only siao people like me would go, so not worth the trouble waiting near the duck sh*t smell for one lousy biker to give demerit points to. If i were a TP i'd hang out in these forum and wait for mass outings. . . :p or even better, prowl the WRX and EVO forums (if there's one) and set up checkpoints, get all of them to go for inspection!

anybody tried installing LED rear lights before? what is the wattage? where did you get it from? easy to DIY? can pass inspection?
