Base on figures.

the power to weight ratio is one of the most scary in the class 2A series

Why scary? As in underpowered or super powerful?

looks like DRZ has a contender for SuperMoto.

oh wells, its a KTM.

Regards,

kifakw

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

the pull is about the same as a stock DRZ. thus its still manageable.

Imagine those who bought the Duke 125, lol.

Even the CEO of KTM has clearly mentioned that KTM125 is a moped meant for 16 yrs old in Europe and not for India. For India it is 180CC, 190CC and in future 390CC.

Wonder why they sent 125CC to Singapore, when 200CC is perfect for class 2B, just beats me.

The Duke 390 is similar to the Duke 200 but the main differentiating factor is the bigger engine. Other than the “390” sticker on the fuel tank and bright trademark KTM orange paint for the trellis frame, there is no way you can tell them apart. The sharing of vehicle parts between multiple bikes helps in reducing the cost.

125 in europe is not only meant just for 16 yrs old, on the contrary, many adults (male or female) r riding 125cc becoz of their EU laws, anyone with car license can ride a

the reason why all manufacturers r manufacturing bike according to EU specifications.

ktm200 will not be as popular as 125 in europe but will it be selling like hot cake as like phantom in sillpore?

UK price of Duke 390 is out: GBP 4500 (~SGD 8872.60)

This is about 7.2% more than Duke 200's GBP 4195 (~SGD 8271.24).

In Singapore, we have the Duke 200 priced at SGD 10500. (http://www.ktm.com.sg/index.php)

According to TS's intel, Dirtwheel's (propose) price for Duke 390, ie SGD 12800, is a 22% increment! :slapforehead:

the problem is not them. the problem is us.

nobody else in the world has our licensing system. we followed an old japanese system, which the japanese updated two decades ago but our LTA stubbornly cling on to until today.

the duke125 is the same as the cbr125, the (4-stroke) RS4-125 and YZF-R125. they are all meant to be under-18 bikers. yet these bikes clearly have a market in singapore by virtue of our 2b category.

India also has a unique licensing system, but their market is huge enough that Indian bike manufacturers (including japan-based brands) design their capacities around the Indian system.

and we singaporeans follow neither european style nor Indian style but an obsolete Japan style that even Japan themselves abandoned. who wants to cater to us? end result, we bring in watever they make and hope it sells.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Agree about the licensing system here. the evaluation process is outdated. first, the skills required to ride a 400 and the 600 bike they use in the driving schools is not very different. there is a much bigger difference between a 600 and a GoldWing or a 1200 GS. does it mean we need another license for above 1000cc. The evaluation process also needs a major review: why test you on traffic rules again when u go for a class 2 test. You have already done that with the 2b and 2a test. At that stage in your riding career, they should just teach you some additional skills to master the heavier mass of the bike. Once the trainer is satisfied this has been achieved, give the license. But this is the authorities we are talking about so I don't have much hope of seeing any changes anytime soon.
