bro..maybe like what manzz said..try not to open ur vtec den change gear..if best....1st 3 gear change below 6k and change fast...den u can have ur speed too if i wasnt wrong..for s4 due to close gear ratio..think no need to drag too long b4 a gear change and also notice most other 2B mode bikes pickup rather faster den me too.... :cheeky:

always change gear at 4k-5k rpm... tried till reserve nv open vtec still the same... Tried travelling below 95km/h also the same... definitely not wrong riding style...

NSR150SP -> Wave 125S ->CB400Spec II -> R607 -> DRZ400SM -> CB400Spec II -> Ducati Monster 400 -> Suzuki Swift/Gilera ST200 -> Colt Version R -> Jazz GD1 -> ???

Mine is the version "S". Not been sending to mechanic for carb washing and tuning for about 1 year 2 months liao. Currently, petrol consumption still stable around 34~ 35 km/ litres. So...version "S", "R", Project Big one.... if you still have them, is still value for money. :) Spec 1 and 2 , 3 engine is not the same design with the former and the petrol comsumption might not be as good lor. That is all for my input and observation so far.

So in case you happen to spot a second hand bike with version S or R or even project big one.... the price is reasonable.... is your grab. :) Good luck.

vtec oso can get a FC of 35km/l with the condition that u ride not over 60km. figures is got from the manual.

mayb ver S can ride around at 70km or 80km to get that mileage??

:cheeky:

but to b frank, those older versions is the save fuel type of S4, economical i should say...

cheers...

hey guys, jus to share some info.

basically, stock air filters offer less airflow, thus less power. aftermarket airfilters offer higher airflow. higher airflow means richer Fuel/Air (F/A) mixture, which means better power, but only to a certain point. when there's too much air(when airfilter holes become enlarged), the power output reduces. same thing applies when there's too little air flow(when airfilter get clogged up).

ie to say, K&N / BMC filters do help with FC, but only to a certain extent. ultimately, it's how you ride.

jus taking my own bike (vtec 1) as a case study:

when i jus got my bike, was changing gears at 5k rpm, crsuiing speeds at 90. FC was 320 hit reserve.

then change to 4k rpm change gear, 340 hit reserve

then change to 3.5k rpm change gear, 360 hit reserve.

now i change gears at 3k-3.5k rpm, dun drag on lower gears, dun open vtec (in sg only)

present record : 390 hit reserve, tank emptied at 468.5km (i was only bout 50 meters away from the petrol station!)

anything below 3k rpm, it'll be damn slow in pick up. i'm not saying my method is the best, but it works for me

that amounts to 26km/L.

and i found out that still works for cruising speeds up to 100km/h.

try to travel more on highways if u can, it'll help in fuel economy, cuz moving off and idling (due to multiple junctions) takes up more petrol

for me (vtec 1),

i change every gear at 3.5k rpm until 6gear

i ride 80-90km/h constant. at times, ride 100km/h-115km/h

simei-->>sembawang-->>simei (daily)

best milage: 385.6km still got 1 more bar n reserve. total fuel 14.2l

i noe it's the wrong method of calculating cos i dun like to ride my bike in reserve

fuel consumption: 27km/l(everytime)

i would say if we do regular maintenance or change watever wear n tear item, FC greatly depends on riding style liao.

I'm ridin a spec 1 ....

Last sat go jb fill petrol V-power abt 12l full tank liao .....

i got in abt 223km .... then the fuel meter start between one bar and flashin ... so i assume its goin to near reserve ....

dat means i average abt 19+ km/l

i jus top up 3liter jus today ... wan to see wat mileage i get this time before i go into same scenario like above ....

I travel frm woodlands to changi daily roughly about 27km if not wrong. ANd i estimate 1 bar of fuel is abt 3 liter (if is true full tank is 18l exclu reserve)

Will update when i get my experiment result back ....

For non-vtec version to hit 370++km b4 reserve wif normal riding speed(90-100) is jus a piece of cake...

i ever clock 390km b4 reserved a few times, but i thk its not accurate cos suspect one of e plugs faulty causing irregular combustion... but on average abt 370km b4 reserve, no problem :cheeky:

Current P200 setup: Sinnob Sproc[15, 39], NGK platinum plug with spark booster, V3 racing coil, cheetah CDI[dual mode], broquet B2, DIY oiler, hazard light, DIY gnding, PE28[pj-38, mj-120], open pod filter
