I was the owner, and my bf was my subrider. My insurance under non-rider. So only my bf can ride, till I pass.

Another option is to buy the bike with you as owner, put it on layup. Means road tax will be canceled. No need buy insurance. But the bike can only remain at your designated carpark till you de-layup it (get your license).

The process of laying up is quite easy but the de-layup part is troublesome and may waste unnecessary money. Before it can be put back on the road, you will have to send it for re-inspection. And to pass the inspection, you may have to spend some money to do up the bike till it is LTA - APPROVED. Plus towing charges ain't that cheap.

I see, the layup option is rather "irritating" especially the part that you can "un-lay" it only after you pass. Unless there's a really good deal or a bike thats rare that you will do that...

Good thing u got ur bike earlier. For nothing you'll have to pay like 1.5k more now...

I think i'll get my class 2 then go "bio" the bikes ...... soon soon soon.... arrrgh... not soon enough...

If i'm riding a sportsbike. NO. its just wrong... softcase side panniers if i really need to carry more stuff... top box is just so so wrong... imagine a ducati with a top box...

If i'm riding a road bike for normal commute. Top box.

Touring top plus side panniers.

What about an RX-Z? Yes or no?

Poll : Between the 2 routes... Which is the easier of the two?

Route 1: 4 traffic lights

Route 2: 6 traffic lights

I like route 1. Anyone done route 2 in feb tp? Heard that after jan its either route 1 or 2 and not always route 1 like last time.

Definitely route 1. Shorter distance.

Second day riding it. Too overwhelmed!

I don't think I can achieve Class 2 but I do have a dream bike. Daytona 675R or a Suzuki GSXR600.

Well, have fun, enjoy the extra power & do ride safe.

The 675R is quite a beauty. Go chase the dream girl! No reason why you cant achieve it. You need "sisu" -(see-sue). No equivalent english translation to that Finnish word im afraid. But in essence it is to keep going no matter how difficult or adverse situation may be. An action mindset that enables individuals to see beyond present limitations & into what might be.

Me overcoming all my plank difficulties were all down to sisu. & yes, I'd love to see you on the plank! haha

Route 1 is shorter & we tend to make less mistakes there. Route 2 is longer but easier to make mistakes.

But with Route 2, you will learn & experience more cos Hougang Ave 3 leading to Jln Eunos seems more busy than Airport Road in the morning. Both my L8 attempts were on route 2. I personally enjoy route 2 more - more riding involved.

Thanks for this info. I shall take note of it. The batch on test today were on route 1. I'll see whats coming on my rr in early march.

Seems the testers were pretty strict today. 2 of my cohorts who took test today both failed despite doing well for L8. I heard a few people also IF cos dropped plank or knocked cone.

Went to our instructor's wake yesterday. Steven/Kuek Siu Chun passed away in his sleep on 17th February 2015. Very saddening piece of news especially since this is the CNY period.

Cherish your loved ones. Life is fragile.

Kinda surreal, considering I saw him fully alive & kicking last sat afternoon during cr. I had him once for L6 & twice for L7.

Life's indeed uncertain & fragile.

RIP.

Hey folks, for lesson 8 and TP, if we are turning right and there are 2 lanes that can turn right (one with shared arrow and the other a turn right arrow) - do we always take the lane more on the left (the shared arrow) lane?

For lesson 8, yes. So TP should be the same ba. After the U turn, before coming back to CDC the first turn right ?

I can't really remember but I thought it should be lane most extreme right? Cos we supposed to filter all the way to the left after u turn, and then all the way to the right after that and make a right turn.

Hmm. Maybe those taking TP can clear the air ? Coz for Prac 8 is not extreme right lane.

From what i can remember, the barrier was beside me when i made the right turn, both lesson 8 and tp. Idk if they changed things.

Good luck bro. Did mine this morning. Bike toh at a Ebrake. Dun take bike 42. Another fella after me also Toh. But dunno what's his bike no.

Posted

Ebrake is all about balance. Nothing to do with the bike. Glance down on the speedometer, and time your speed based on the lampposts. Once you cross the line, take your eye off the speedomenter. Look up ahead, keep your arms straight, legs grabbing the tank (my legs are grabbing the tank the moment i start from the start line, so that's 1 less thing to worry about).

Apply pressure to both brakes evenly. Don't grab the brakes suddenly, and don't look down. The bike will come to a steady stop, and will not skid or toh. There's a strong tendency to look down at the stop line. Don't. There is ample space to stop, so don't look down.

If you happen to skid, just keep your legs in the same riding position and you will be fine. The crash bars will protect your leg. DO NOT try to use your leg to break the fall. You will injure your leg.

Always take the innermost lane in the direction you are turning. Ie, if turning right, take the right most lane. If turning left, take the leftmost lane. If single arrow, form 2 rows. If double or triple arrows, form 1 row. In either case, stop 1 arms length from the edge of the road. When turning, aim for the center of the road, so you won't kenna for wide/sharp turn.

The only exception is the turn after the U-turn for CDC route 2 (and route 2 only). In this case. take the 2nd rightmost lane. For Route 1, always take the innermost lane.

In real life after getting your licence, take any lane you please. :-)

Yes changed already. Now its the 3rd lane (straight & right turn lane).
