Any tips on u turn? My friend u turn always wide turning

if starting from stop. make sure bike is angled 45 degrees in the direction of the u-turn while waiting for the green arrow. if from moving position, look in the direction of where you want to go and bank lower. use figure of 8 technique - rear brake pressure and throttle through in second gear.

did a road revision today... my group did ok for Route 1 - originally i was second bike of 3 (ex. instructor). then at the first traffic light, the bike in front turned around and asked... "now we turn right ah?". alamak. she then asked the instructor to let someone else lead because she cannot remember the route, so i became bike 1.

on route 2 everybody screwed up.. firstly, at the first right turn, i didn't see some pedestrians walking from the darkness of the construction site, so when my light turned green, i started moving into the turn and then saw them and i stopped kind of halfway...

then i made the mistake of stopping in the bus bay to wait for the others to catch up... then the #3 bike overtook us and became the #1 bike.. but he was too fast to filter into lane 2 (later on he said coz bus lane, although it wasn't in operation)... i stupidly followed him.. it was ok to do that if we had kept our speed up but he was riding at 30kph... so we kena for that.

then on the way back, same thing.. he was in front and rode slowly in the middle lane.

we reached the right turn and the #1 bike made a big big mistake - he went forward when the round green light was on but the red right turn arrow was also on... man.. if he had kept going he might have been hit by oncoming traffic. Be very very careful with that junction guys.. its a bit of a dangerous turn.

after that there was enough time to do circuit revision and i promptly proceeded to roll off the plank on my first try.. argh!

Like what rijac advised, use fig 8 techniques. LOOK where u want to go, NOT where u are going.

If u are moving off from the stop line (inched out, slanted to the right), initiate the u-turn in gear 1 all the way, do not kick up to gear 2. Once u complete the u-turn, kick up gears accordingly.

If u are from afar and oncoming traffic is clear, u can straight away initiate the u-turn, BUT in gear 2.

always always always rmmber this, the machine will move where u are looking at. Works almost everytime, unless u got thin tyres and fall

Circuit revision. I was riding next to the ebrake lane when it happened. Damn bad crash. The bike didnt just slide, it was bouncing off the ground. The guy went face first into the tires at the side.

Hello everyone.

So I finally enrolled for the 2B course after years of dreaming of riding around on a scooter. The last couple of weeks, I finally sat down and did some research and thinking and decided to go for it.

Reading through forums about people taking bike lessons and everything is like so scary - especially the falling down, bruises and what not. Yikes!

But nevertheless, I am determined to get that scooter.

I have a class 3 driver's license and have been driving for a very long time but from what I've read so far, riding on a bike is a whole different animal.

I have a few questions:

1. Do we need to bring a helmet & protective gear on the first circuit training outfield orientation lesson?

2. Why is it so hard to book riding theory lessons? (Not even 1 theory lesson session is available from now till Sept. 30!)

3. Can I take the defensive riding theory class before taking the riding theory class?

Thanks for all the tips and advice. Keep em' coming!

When you do the theory lesson bookings, do all one shot. Rtt theory 1 and 2 are the same day but must book seperately. Same with lesson 3 and 4. And the three defensive theory classes. Dont just book one then end up wait another 3 month to attend the next theory lesson.

Also its ok to attend drt first

book all your theory as quickly as you can - sequence is not important i.e. you can technically do lesson 4 before lesson 1. lol. although its encouraged to do them in sequence. you can take drt before rtt theory. you don't want to be held back by theory lessons because a number of things can only proceed once you pass those theory classes or attended the DRT. slots are limited coz their classrooms limited. once a classroom is filled up, no more slot ah..

one tip - someone posted somewhere if you take non-english bookings might be earlier... i don't know i haven't tried.

keep an open mind... some people start off wanting to ride something then after the lessons and being influenced by poisonous minds decide to buy something else in the end...

I think I'm gonna be a nerd and do my lessons in sequence. My knowledge on bikes is really pathetic, so I think I better be a "kwai" student and follow the order. But thanks for the tip. Maybe after I'm more steady, I might just jump around lessons.

For now it looks like I definitely got no chance of sitting for any theory lessons till after Sept 30. Boo!

I think I may just go for the defensive riding theory classes first since there are slots available in early Sept.

Lessons in Mandarin? Ummm... no.

I think my heart's dead set on that scooter, man. But like you said, I shall keep an open mind.
