any suggestions which bike i should get?? i used to ride a pulsar 180 dts-i but i sold it due to personal reasons, but i am keen on getting a new bike for commuting around singapore now, but one of the reasons i'm picking these bikes is that yes i do think they all look good, and that i think i need a heavier bike? i'm not used to riding small bikes like yamaha spark or nsr150sp. i find it too light, seems like it will just fly away for some reason, yes its my personal preference. i'm only 172cm tall though. not a racer, just commuting and would normally have a pillion with me.. any recommendations on which bike i should put more considerations into?? hopefully someone can explain the main difference between the individuals? and the pricing and maintainence too if possible! thank you very much!

R125 is a nice bike, not nice for pillions. I've tried riding my fren's, pillion will be very uncomfortable throughout the journey lol.

Maybe the new version CBR150 is a better choice for you?

well, i think i would agree with both if you that the r125 is just a plain sexy bike which has always been my first choice.. but yes like ki113r said, it really looks damn uncomfortable for the pillion.. hahaha! but compared in just the size of the bikes, is cbr150r the biggest? anyway, i doubt i will be upgrading. so i need something reliable.

Cbr is the biggest amongst your choices. It is also quite comfortable for your pillion as far as sports bikes go. Reliability is good too. But at low rpm, the torque is quite little compared to the r125.

oh.. thanks for the advice! after all maybe i think i will get a cbr 150r i guess! i was thinking if i should just get my class 2A now since its already been 1.5 years since i gotten my 2b, but i dont really think i will get a bigger bike anyway, just need it for leisure use and commuting. so i guess i would stick to a 2b bike. plus is it through the maintenance for 2b is much cheaper? and does anyone know about the rough maintenance cost for the new cbr 150r?

Get 2A & buy silverwing la. Looks very comfortable leh :thumb:

silverwing doenst just look comfortable, it honestly is, my neighbour rides one and i've tried it before! but the thing is i even after 1 year + of riding, still not used to bikes that i cannot giap the fuel tank one. like spark all those. i feel 'unsafe' haha no idea why. thats why never considered cubs. have always been looking into street bikes and sports bikes.

Anyone have any idea how much the new Honda CBR150R would cost for a 20 year old 2b holder with over 1 year license and experience? an estimate?

anyway i also checked out the r15 v2.0 and it looks pretty neat too. haha i'm still stuck between the r125 cbr 150r or the r15 2.0 the downside to r125 is mainly because of the price and the pillion's comfort... but i see that even a 2nd hand r125 might be able to get you a new r15 2.0 or a new cbr 150r. am i right.?

Pillion's comfort can be solved easily with a box at the back. :cheeky:

R15 will be better if you intend to take a pillion. CBR tend to have torque issues at lower rpm; the power kicks in at 8k rpm.

But CBR150R is also slightly larger than R15, just slightly. So it's up to you. Your insurance will cost maybe about 800-1000. On the road, maybe about 8-10k roughly for CBR. not sure about R15. Friend got his CBR second hand for 6k on the road, it was 6-mth old when he bought it. Previous rider was too short for the bike.

RIDE.

hmm the insurance is that low after a year? i remembered when i gotten a pulsar 180 after my license. i was paying over 1k per year in insurance. anyway, thanks for the info man. i read about CBR having really low torque at the low end so with a pillion and going uphill would be a problem... the r15 v2 seems like the closest competition the CBR has right now. its a bike i have to stick for at least another 6 years or so.. so i need to consider properly! thanks for all the tips man! cost wise, would the yamaha be more ex than the cbr? anyone know?

anyway guys, any recommended shops i should go to view a r15 v2? maybe somewhere cheaper in general?

below 20 generally more expensive. Since u're 20 now and no more p plate, i think about 800-1000 should be around there. i'm not too sure, u have to check. Mine is 27yo with p plate on SP, about 800.

R15 should be roughly same price as CBR, 8k up.

thanks alot people! i'm going around to take a look today if im free. i read about gp motoring is quite good? and im normally at bukit merah area, i used to own a bike that i bought from there. services are reasonable and fast too. helpful to a certain point. im not really sure if i should stick to places nearer to where i live or just go ahead and find the best. because i live in jurong area. most probably have my eyes on the r15 v2 already.

Yup, very uncomfortable. At least that's what my GF says, after comparing pillion on SP.

Have you even seen a R125 in real life? Its big. Full size r6 kind of big. Its even taller than the r6. The CBR 150r looks puny when you put side by side. The build quality is really euro build solid. Then paint is deep and the parts dont move. Based on just looks alone. The R125 wins hands down. Its just freaking expensive. You can go view at Loois

The CBR150r is the next biggest. the stance is proper. The tank is high. Made in thailand. More power than the R15 v2 but need to rev more to reach there. I think its slightly more expensive than the R15 v2. overall quite balanced. Some hate the front single headlight.

The R15v2. Its also an r6 wanna be la. But its small. The tank looks small. I think same size as the Fz150I tank. Even looks the same. From the back the bike looks like a small r6. Its also looks like a more racier bike than the cbr150r. But its short in front. the height. You wouldnt be comfortable riding it far. The small tank spoils the looks in my opinion.

If i were to choose with a big fat load of cash. It'll be the r125. Its the biggest, its the best built. But its short on power. But why talk about power when you want a 4 stroke commuter bike that looks good. Looking good is all it does best.

If not feeling rich, then I'll get the CBR150r. Its relatively balanced. Its bigger than the R15v2. Its seating position is more comfortable for commuting. Its made in thailand which I would trust better than India. The pillion seat is the most comfortable among all 3.

R15 v2. is more of a sportier bike than the cbr. Its seat is hard. The pillion seat also fare no better than the r125. The plus point is theres low end torque. But its hard on the wrist to ride far. The small tank spoils the looks. Its my least choice. But if I would buy I will buy the red and white one. Overall the bike is still pretty. Just not a comfortable bike to commute too.
