Dear all,

I am planning to ride to Malacca this coming end of March, departing on the morning of the 29th (Good Friday public holiday), returning next day Saturday afternoon.

I will be riding a Phantom TA200, and it will be my first trip so far out.

Looking for any other riders who would be interested to ride along together. All are welcome, the more the merrier (and safer).

Hence, by any chance if you're interested leave a reply or pm me! This thread will be checked often.

Also, recommendations or advice from experienced riders are most sought after!

Here's my humble contribution ..

Do have this checked :

Engine (do servicing before your trip, ask mech to check for wear n tear/ leaks n ect)

Battery (check charging system of battery/ rectifier/ magneto coil)

Engine oil

Coolant (check if your cooling system in good Working order)

Tyre (check for nail n ect prior to trip) (air pressure)

Clutch cable (check for sign of wear&tear)

Things to bring :

Raincoat

Spare coolant (incase)

Spare clutch cable (if can)

Spare fuse (tat your bike is using)

Spare key

Tyre repair kit (a must to bring, and a must to know how to use it)(known few peeps who keep the kit but didn't know how to use it until shyt happen)

ChainLube (Lube your chain when needed)(chains get dried up after hours of riding)

Anyone knows if it's a good idea to travel on the smaller west coast roads up instead? Cutting through batu phahat etc. A few friends advised against using NS highway, especially on a TA200.. :S

Speed on the trunk roads must be slower because of more traffic, pot holes and humans.

Good if you're sightseeing the smaller towns and time is not a concern.

NSHW is easier with straight and wider road.

Should ride on the slower lane and only if necessary, the road shoulder.

Constantly check the rear for vehicle wanting to overtake you, especially the buses and lorries. They can cause terrible turbulence thus you should be prepared to hold the bike more firmly when they pass.

Anyway, no harm making a few friends at the petrol kiosk (2nd link ESSO). Can tag along with some riders for company.
